“...really? You’re falling asleep on me?” Nightmare scoffed “You just woke up...”
“...mhm...” Dust grinned, the oil monster rolled his eye.
“Look...I’m just waiting for Error’s clothes to finish, okay? You lot don’t need to hover around me...”
“...but Nightmare...” He pulled on Nightmare’s jacket lightly, mocking a child’s voice. “...we’re bored.”
“But Dust...” Nightmare responded dryly “...you’re annoying me.” Dust shot a glare at him, getting off Nightmare’s back, unimpressed.
“...I hate the glitch.” He muttered, Nightmare stared at him, confused.
“Because he’s all you care about...” He replied, the oil monster shook his head, denying the fact immediately.
“...seems like it...” Cross retorted, frustrated.
“Cross...no, I...he’s hurt, okay? He...his soul is--”
“We don’t care if he’s hurt.” Dust growled “The problem is...you only care about him...”
“...Dust, no...leave Night alone...” Killer grabbed his arm, pulling on him slowly. “...if Error’s soul is hurt, he needs that care...it’s fine...”
“It’s not ‘fine’!” Cross snapped, Nightmare’s tendrils curled in on himself.
“I’M TRYING, OKAY?! I’M FUCKING TRYING!” He bellowed “IT’S MY FAULT THAT HIS SOUL’S A MESS! I’M TRYING TO MAKE SURE HE’S HAPPY BEFORE HE TURNS INTO A PILE OF DUST!” His oil started dripping excessively, stressed out. “BE ANGRY AT ME FOR DOING THAT TO HIM! BUT DON’T YOU FUCKING DARE BLAME ERROR FOR THE LACK OF ATTENTION YOU LOT ARE GETTING!” He collapsed into a puddle, beginning to sob, mentally unable to cope anymore. “I-it’s my fault...okay...? Don’t...don’t blame h-him...”
“Night...?” Killer let go of Dust’s arm, edging towards the puddle of oil. “Nightmare?”
“You’ve...umm...y-you sorta...scared them...” He said quietly, pushing his hand into the oil. He grabbed Nightmare gently, dragging him out of the puddle, letting him see.
“F-fuck...fuck, you’re...s-scared of me?” He asked nervously, watching Dust hide his face in his hood. Cross covered his skull with his arms, just as petrified. “D...Dust? Cross?” He hugged them both, concerned. “H-hey? I...I’m sorry, I didn’t...mean to...”
“...Night...” Dust mumbled “...d...don’t shout...please...”
“...o-or cry...” Cross pressed his face into Nightmare’s shoulder “I-I didn’t mean...to...”
“S...sorry...I’m s-sorry...” Dust whimpered, Nightmare didn’t move, overwhelmingly guilty for the two. “...don’t...don’t...p-please...”
“...I-I’m sorry...” He murmured “I’m sorry...” Sitting down slowly, he pulled the two with him, hugging them tighter. “...m’sorry, c...can you...forgive me...? I didn’t mean to shout...”
“...m...mhm...” Cross nodded, Dust didn’t respond.
“W-why am I...scared...?” Dust questioned quietly, confused about it. “I shouldn’t be b-but...you scared me and...and I-I’m scared...”
“I-I yelled...I yelled and...I shouldn’t have...n-not at you lot...” NIghtmare moved back and forth, only tightening his arms around them. “M’sorry, Dust...”
“...’tis...okay...” Dust whispered “...i-it’s okay...you d-didn’t mean it...”
“...a...after Error’s clothes are done...we’re gonna go destroy...I promise...”
“...mhmm...” Cross nodded into Nightmare again, feeling him get to his feet slowly. “Night?”
“...I don’t know...h-heh...” He wandered over to the washing machine, opening it, grabbing Error’s clothes and glancing back at the three skeletons behind him. “Where’s Horror?”
“...he said he needed to go visit someone, so...” Killer shrugged, Nightmare rolled his eye, easing off.
“...well...I’ll take these to Error and get him changed, then we can go destroy...” He said “...I’ll see you lot in the throne room...” Teleporting, he reappeared in front of Error, holding his clothes out. “Your highness...” He bowed a little, Error sighed, taking his clothes and pointing at the bedroom door.
“What?” Nightmare tilted his head a bit “You don’t want me to help you get changed?”
“No! I let you do it once! Now, get out!” He exclaimed, the oil monster scoffed slightly, crossing his arms and pouting at the glitch. “Night.” Error growled, annoyed. He shoved Nightmare backwards, opening the door and pushing him out, only for Nightmare to teleport behind him. He slipped Error’s pyjama jumper off with ease, causing the glitch to freeze up.
“See? Easy...” Nightmare purred, taking Error’s clean jumper and stuffing it over his skull. Error glared at him, unimpressed, yet also confused.
“H/ow come you’re able to remove people’s clothes so easily?” He questioned, Nightmare paused.
“Well...I’ve gotta give the other four nutcases baths and they don’t like water much either.” He explained simply “At first...it was a struggle, getting their clothes off but...” A tendril pulled his slippers off and pyjama trousers down as he looked away, another tugged his shorts on. Error stepped into his slippers, mildly intrigued.
“So, you’re like their...babysitter?” He queried, almost oblivious to the removal of his pyjamas.
“Mmm...I guess you can say that but...I don’t get paid and it’s practically a life-long job, heh.” Nightmare opened Error’s jacket, letting him push his arms into it. He zipped it up for him, pulling his hood over his face. “I don’t get why you lot hate water so much...”
“It’s not comfortable to be in...” Error replied, peering out from under his hood. “You like water?”
“...weirdo.” He smirked “I bet you sit in a bath full of ice.”
“Essentially.” Nightmare grinned “And you’ve essentially just let me strip you.” Error’s face immediately blew up with gold, realizing what Nightmare had done. The oil monster rubbed his knuckles into the top of his skull, still grinning. “Seems like you were distracted, huh?”
“Sh-sh/ut u//p!” Error glitched, coding covering his eyes.
“God, you’re adorable...” Nightmare chuckled, taking the glitch’s hand. “C’mon...I promised the others we’d go destroy after I got you changed.” He pulled him out the bedroom, down the hallway. Error said nothing, trying to sort out his glitching silently. “Hey?” Nightmare looked at him, watching him rub at the coding aggressively. “You okay there?”
“N/o! Y//ou’ve m/a/de m/e b//ug ou/t!” Error snapped, furious, Nightmare only laughed.
“Y’know...I know how to make it worse for you...” Error didn’t answer, too busy scratching at the code. Nightmare stopped walking, winding up with the glitch walking into him, halting when he did.
“N/igh//t, w/hy d//id y/ou--!” A light touch on his teeth immediately told him the reason why, jolting back, trying to stare at where Nightmare was.
“...would you believe me if I said it? Error?” He felt his cheeks being cupped, unsure, not able to move properly. He shook his head slowly “...what will I have to do to prove it to you?” Nightmare enquired quietly, Error raised his shoulders a bit, uncomfortable. “...if I said it...would you start to believe me?”
“I-I...I d//on’t...I d/on’t kn//ow...” He was taken aback, almost scared of the sudden shift from Nightmare. Yet, the oil monster was so calm about it, talking so smoothly as though he had done it countless times before.
“I care too much...heh...” Nightmare hugged him, pressing his teeth against Error’s cheek gently. “...love you, glitch.”
