what does the quran say about racism? regarding black people in specific?
okay so at the time that Islam  was sent down by Allah and Prophet Muhammad (pbu) was made the messenger of Islam, In Arabia black people were inferior to the arabs and whites basically. Black people were enslaved and sold and traded in Arabia before Islam was established. they were tortured and treated like absolutely dirt by the leaders of Arabia in particular. At the time that the message of islam was being sent down, and at this the time where black people were being treated as such, there were very few and i mean VERY, like maybe 10 max muslims including the prophet. So at that time news was sent to the leaders of Arabia about a prophet of god and the religion of Islam. when this news was being delivered to the leaders, there was present a black man who was enslaved by one of the leaders name Bilal (RA) When the news is delivered, Bilal is present and its there where the messenger of the prophet delivered the news about islam to the leaders and said in Islam all man is equal to one another. and at this, all the leaders laughed and they pointed at Bilal and said “HIM? equal to ME?” and they laughed. and it was this teaching that actually drew Bilal (RA) to islam. The preaching of Muhammad attracted Bilal towards Islam and he was among its earliest converts. Bilal renounced idol worship and as a result was subjected to torture. When Bilal’s master found out, he began violently to torture Bilal. He tied Bilal up and had him dragged and beaten around Mecca as a means to break Bilal’s faith but each time Bilal would say “there is only one god” . (this also happened to any other Muslim within Mecca who believed in Islam). Now thats just some back up story, the best part comes next.  News of Bilal and his torture reached some of Prophet Muhammad’s (pbu) companions who told the prophet of the slave. The Prophet Muhammad(pbu) then sent Abu Bakr, his companion to negotiated a deal with Bilal’s leader to purchase Bilal and free him of his slavery. Thats the teaching of Islam. The Prophet told one of his companions to buy Bilal off of his master and free him. Bilal was very close to the Prophet also, and he was the very FIRST human being to EVER recite the Azan (the muslim call for prayer) and he was chosen by the prophet himself. Bilal (RA) was also the ONLY man who was ever allowed to climb the Kabbah in Mecca and do the azan. Bilal is a representation of the treatment of not not just black people, but the treatment of all muslims in islam. There is no skin colour for us. Bilal is the ultimate example of the teachings of Islam and the respect and treatment of all humans that islam teaches. Other than this beautiful story theres also many many Quran verses about equality
“No Arab is superior over a non-Arab, and no white is superior over black and superiority is by righteousness and God-fearing alone” (Surat Al-Hujurat, 49:13)
“O People! Your God is one; your father is one; no preference of an Arab neither over non-Arab nor of a non-Arab over an Arab or red over black or black over red except for the most righteous. Verily the most honored of you is the most righteous.”
“O Mankind! We have created you from a male and female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know one another. Verily, the most honorable of you in the sight of Allah is he who has most taqwa among of you. Verily, Allah is All-Knowing, All-Aware.”
Islam is a religion of equality, peace and justice.The teaching of islam and the teachings of the Prophet was based off of the treatment of others. That all man kind is equal. This is the beauty of Islam.Â
