I'm planning to write an Akashi + Haizaki roommate AU fic where Mayuzumi and Haizaki are cousins and Mayu's parents force him to take care of Haizaki once the boy graduates highschool. Mayu was currently sharing a flat with Ishida because they go to the same college, but when Akashi heard about Mayu's roommate was gonna move out so that Haizaki could move in, he immediately rented a big apartment for four just so Ishida would be able to stay. Normally it'd be Ishida who cooks, MayuAka to wash the dishes and Haizaki's in charge of laundry (Akashi doesn't like the smell of left over food so Ishida's been letting him help in the kitchen so Haizaki'd share job with Mayu). Everyone cleans their rooms seperately, but because AkaHai fight on daily basis on it's often Ishida who had to mop and vacuum the living room (Mayu would cover the part-time shift for him in exchange for his help in taming Haizaki).

Some crazy ideas I've added to my Mayuzumi & Haizaki being cousins AU and YES I do like the headcanon of Mayuzumi and Rakuzan's Shirogane being relatives i mean duh have you seen his old picture back in the days istg he dyed his hair black to become a teacher đ¤Ł
Also I know Haizaki canonically has an older brother but he's not that relevant in this so just assume he already moved out somewhere =))))
At first it seems as if this thing is going to crash and burn into ruins like a cheaply-built skyscraper on top of a faultline pretty damn soon, as if itâs unsustainable even over a month or so. Haizaki is unconcerned with anything other than himself, and Ishida is busyâitâs nice to have this temporary distraction, but heâs not going to hold his breath. But then Haizaki comes over with flowers and dressed nicer than Ishidaâs ever seen him before and tells him in that gruff, sneering way to just get ready so they can go. And then he stays the whole night at Haizakiâs and falls asleep spooning him and Haizaki doesnât throw his arms off even when they wake up the next morning. And then itâs Ishidaâs birthday and Haizaki gets him really nice basketball tickets and Ishida feels bold enough to hold his hand on the way home and under the streetlights it looks as if Haizakiâs blushing. And all of a sudden itâs been four months and theyâre still together and maybe, just maybe, this thing isnât going to collapse in on itself after all.
Who would throw the other in the pool: Definitely Haizaki. Heâd do that because he thinks Ishida needs to have fun once in a while because he âhas a stick in the assâ.Who is the better carer when the other is sick: Ishida keeps his calm and has efficient ways to take care of people. So yeah Haizaki is in good hands with him.Who would force the other to do extreme sports with them: Haizaki! Challenges are for him and heâll taunt Ishida until the latter accepts (with a sigh).Who would cook the better romantic dinner: Theyâre not really into romantic stuff, so I would say neither? Even though Haizaki is the better cook.Who would build the blanket fort in the living room: Ishida likes to be nestled into comfortable blankets so when heâs in a good mood heâd build the blanket fort. :DWho would have the best holiday ideas: Haizaki doesnât have any imagination when it comes down to it so Ishida is the one who gives actual thought.Who would need to clean out the otherâs stuff to make room for their own: Ishida. Haizaki is completely messy and heâd live in his own mess without any problem.
MIDOKISEWho would throw the other in the pool: Kise likes to play pranks and seeing Midorima being exasperated amuses him.Who is the better carer when the other is sick: Midorima is the one with the knowledge, but Kise is the one with social abilities... Overall Midorima is the better carer.Who would force the other to do extreme sports with them: Kise, of course! Exciting challenges are a must-do thing and Midorimacchi has to experience them with him!Who would cook the better romantic dinner: Surprisingly, itâs Midorima. He may not express his feelings outwardly but he knows how to set an atmosphere.Who would build the blanket fort in the living room: Kise would, and comes up with a story to explain what theyâre hiding from, or why they need to cuddle in the blanket fort.Who would have the best holiday ideas: Kise wants to go everywhere possible on the surface of the planet, but he doesnât know how to spend effectively his time there, so Midorima is the one who planifies the holiday. I guess they have the best holiday ideas together.Who would need to clean out the otherâs stuff to make room for their own: Kise has way too much stuff so Midorima needs to help him sort things out, and possibly get rid of some things.
have a (sem-random) prompt: ishida/haizaki, embers
Okay this is so late ;; (thanks for the prompt!)
Ishida doesnât quite knowhow to qualify his relationship with Haizaki; ever since he met himin high school his heartâs strings have always been pulled in astrange way. For starters he didnât expect to see him on a dailybasis at the bar he is working part-time at. As a college student heneeds to save up some money for future projects, and honestly workingin a bar isnât something bad. He gets to witness some interestingthings, meet peopleâeven though itâs way too often drunktalkingâand run into acquaintances, like Haizaki. The guy hasnâtreally changed, physically; still well-built, strong arms and handsthat take the glass offered to him, hair always tied in cornrows, anda face that doesnât seem to have softened. Ishida knows what heâsgoing to find in these grey eyes whenever they make eye contact:violence, scorn, but also something akin to sadness.
Ishida however doesnât,and has never known, how to handle Haizaki.
âTodayâs the third dayin a row youâre drunk, Haizaki,â Ishida sighs as he confiscates theglass of alcohol. âDonât you have a job tomorrow?â
âShut up, âs not yourbusiness,â Haizaki growls, but fails to look intimidating.
Ishida puts the glass inthe sink, and frowns. He is pretty sure Haizaki got a full-time jobsomewhere, the last time they talked about itâhe could never haveafforded a course in university. If he didnât know better, Ishidawould have thought that Haizaki doesnât care at all about his job.
Itâs just hard to pick upthe pieces he leaves behind him to fully understand whatâs going on.
âDid you get firedagain?â Ishida asks.
He sees a flash of angerpass through Haizakiâs eye, but decides not to comment. He needs toget the man talking, because thatâs what he needs, and thatâs whatIshida is good at. Making people talk. Drunk people talk.
âI thought that you werepast the impulsive actions,â he says coolly.
âWhat makes you think Iwas in the wrong?â Haizaki snaps. âItâs not my fault if theycanât handle a bit of honest talking to their face!â
âYou should know by nowthat whenever you talk back you get fired.â
Haizaki doesnât botherreplying and stretches out a hand, but only grabs thin air when heremembers Ishida confiscated his glass of alcohol. He scowls andcurls his fists into balls, giving a glare at the bartender. Ishidaisnât fazed at all; heâs now way too much used to this scorn andnasty looks to be bothered at all.
Instead, Haizaki fishes apack of cigarettes out of his pocket. Ishida quickly gets hold ofthis as well, and before the younger one can throw a fit, heexplains:
âNo smoking allowedindoors. Thereâs a smoking spot at the corner of the street, but Idonât recommand you going there in your state.â
âFuck you, Ishida.â
Ishida is only halfsurprised when Haizaki doesnât try to pick a fight to get his packbackâmaybe too tired, maybe resigned, maybe trusting. It onlyfurther proves that he really canât figure out someone like this lostboy, who probably doesnât know himself what heâs doing in life.Ishida looks at the people in the room, noticing in the corner of theeye that Haizaki dumped his head on his forearms. There is a softchatter coming from the tables in the back, loud chuckling from thefront ones, giggling and eye contacts all across the room. One or twopersons drunk, and theyâre only halfway through the night. Ishidadecides that these people know what they are doing, contrary to theboyâmanâhe has to take care of.
Ishida shakes his head andpours a drink for a customer without as much as a look for them, andfocuses on Haizaki once more.
âEither you talk to me,either you go home,â he indicates, mechanically wiping glasses.
Ishida has learntthroughout all these past months that picking Haizaki up is aminefield because he can react violently, but he has also learnt thatbeing direct is the only way to get a honest reply.
Seconds fly by beforeHaizaki answers, head still buried in his arms.
âLifeâs just shit.â
âI think I already knewthat.â
âWell youâll need tolearn it from another point of view. I can n'ver get what I want.â
Thatâs nothing new, Ishidawanted to say, but heâs sure Haizaki knows it and he doesnât need avocal reminder. It probably hurts more than necessaryâlike the buttof a cigarette.
Ishida sighs.
âIf so, why donât youfight for it?â he suggests.
Haizaki lifts his head andlooks at him with glassy eyes, but confusion and anger are all toopresent on his face.
âFight for it? What thefuck? Think I havenât been doinâ it for, like, all my life?â
âThatâs not what Imeant,â Ishida frowns.
âSure as hell you do!Youâre no better than anyone else. Always judging me and sayingthings you think I should or shouldnât do. Why do you still care, anyway? Not tired of me yet? Bet you didnât know I knew how you lookat me. Youâre one creepy ass, Ishida.â
Ishidaâs throat goes dry,his breath catches but he canât let it show. He has to keep a calmcomposure. This isnât something out of the ordinary. Heâs used toHaizakiâs jabs. He can control his racing heart, because heâs dealtwith it before.
He sets the cup downgently and looks right into Haizakiâs eyes; his face doesnât waver inthe least.
âWhen you burst out likethat, Iâm wondering myself why I still bother,â he begins as calmlyas possible. âBut I care. I donât give up, because you need help,Haizaki. And I happen to care for the people I like.â
Ishida notices the subtlechange in Haizakiâs expression, the way his eyes donât quiteunderstand the feelings that just have been poured out, the wayconfusion changes into a frown. It makes his heart ache, his headspin, because he knows heâs going to get burnt. He knows he hasreached his limit for tonight.
Haizaki breaks eye contactand slams his money on the counter. He gets up, trying to cover hiswobbling, and heads to the exit. He ignores the people who stare attheir exchange.
âYou shouldnât try sohard, man.â
Ishida wordlessly watchesHaizakiâs retreating figure. It ends up way too often like this. Hetries, oh he tries so hard, like Haizaki said, and he canâthelp it.
Picking up Haizaki isalways a double-edged sword. One second it seems the right time toget through him, and the next his fire lights up anew to hurt.
Ishida absentmindedlytosses the pack of cigarettes up and down. A cigarette butt is theworst and best part of the cigaretteâso close to getting burnt, people enjoy even more the taste.
Ishida plays with a dyingfire heâs keeping alive.

Sometimes Haizaki forgets heâs there, forgets heâs not alone; he talks to himself (not like a crazy person but the same way Ishida does, trying to remember thoughts and words and concepts for later) and he moves unpredictably, unreliably. Itâs kind of like the way he plays basketball, like yeah there are four other guys on the court with him but he canât stand needing them and they donât want to work with him. And even if they do, even if Ishida wants to follow Haizakiâs lead, itâs almost impossible.
Haizaki lets Ishida hold his hand sometimes, tells him heâs not a little kid and heâs not going to get lost or anything like that (no matter how far that is from the truth) and his cheeks burn but itâs usually too dark to see all that well. No matter. Even if he tugs too hard, Ishida canât lose him.
Haizaki is like rain, not a soft romantic drizzle or even a thunderstorm but a torrential downpour that puts everything in line for destruction, soaks all the papers and blows down and sideways so that even umbrellas donât help. And despite this Ishida finds himself not exactly minding sometimes, the utter unpredictability and volatility of himâitâs actually a refreshing break from the tedious life heâs led, driven to succeed, yes, but mostly uneventful. With Haizaki he actually feelsâthe emotions are messy and he canât describe them but that might be part of the fun, Haizakiâs lips against his, biting and muttering cruel things, the clawlike hands bruising his wrists and not having any idea where and when theyâll stopâif theyâll stop in the first place. But for now all he wants is for Haizaki to pour over him until he feels like heâs drowning.
Shougo doesnât thank him for the towel or the change of clothes or for the shelter from the rain, for the warm coffee and hot soup. Ishida wasnât expecting him to, though; if anything itâs a surprise that Shougoâs accepting any of this at all.
He crawls into Ishidaâs bed at night, ignoring the spare futon and whispering things into Ishidaâs ear until he canât pretend to be asleep anymore. Even when heâs given things, he still wants to take and take and suck Ishida dry, but after a while it starts to feel good and Ishida starts to take, too, bites on Shougoâs lip and swallowing Shougoâs words in his throat. Shougo falls asleep on top of him, and even in his sleep heâs not beautiful but heâs still utterly fascinatingâIshida falls asleep tracing the scars with his eyes.
