Here’s what happened: The cool cats at Instacart got at us, because they know that we are busy bitches with stuff to get done and so the grocery store is really not our bag. Plus, we’re all metropolitan ladies without cars, so unless we’re pushing our wheeled wire cart (a thing we sometimes do) down the street, getting large amounts of stuff is tough.
So anyway, Instacart gave us some free snacks so we could try out their service, where basically you send someone to the store for you so you can sit around and shoot the breeze with your pals, then have food show up at your door. It is awesome.
We also think that the gig economy is pretty great for a lot of people. We chatted with our super-friendly Instacart delivery dude about his job (he gets paid to just go to the store!!!) and how he does it basically just to make some extra beer money, which we fully respect. And for those of us who just can’t get the time together to get real food in our cupboards but have a few extra pennies to throw at the problem, it’s a nice relationship.
