MY 14 FAVORITE MOMENTS IN LESSON 543:

Lotsa nail-biting moments in this one too!

1) I just love that tagline for Hijikata. He DOES look like a bloody, badass AF wolf.

2) Zura and Elizabeth coming to the rescue.

3) I love this man.

4) As distressing as it was seeing Okita lying there all bloody and defeated, when he looked like he was actually holding his own against Utsuro just last chapter, I did appreciate the shocked looks on Shinpachi and Yamazaki’s faces. We were all shook.

5) Utsuro descending upon Sougo’s prone figure like the shinigami he’s supposed to be was a really disturbing image.

6) Shinpachi going murderous on Utsuro when he thought Gin-chan was defeated. I was horrified because I knew he was no match, but I was still so proud of him for not giving a shit and trying anyway.

7) Okita suddenly waking up and coming to Pachi-kun’s rescue just made my heart soar. Sougo is so fucking awesome.

8) DAMN.

9) Holy OUCH but still, I’m glad it was his arm and not his chest because he would surely be dead.

10) These two totally awesome ladies; I loved them for trying again...

11)  ...even though they were still no match for this monster. Seriously what IS Utsuro’s problem with Kagura’s beautiful face?? Fuck that guy.

12) Not like I wasn’t already a fond of Nobume already, but after this, I definitely was a fan.

13) This set up...

14) ...and this this amazing pay-off. Love love LOVE!

SHIPS TALLY: 

Zura x Elizabeth: I don’t think I need to justify them...I mean, look at how inseparable they are.

Shinpachi x Yamazaki: I know that technically Shinpachi was supporting Yamazaki because he was injured, but I still thought it was adorable how they had their arms around each other the entire time.

Isaburo x Nobume: I don’t ship them, but I can see why people would. Their unbreakable bond is really very touching.

Okita x Kagura: normally they would be at the top my ships tally list, but since I might be stretching it this time, I decided to list them last. And the reason I even list them at all is because I thought it was adorable that they’re constantly getting their appendages damaged. I liked that they shared the same kind of horrible injury.

Disclaimer: Gintama is not only about shipping. MY 16 FAVORITE MOMENTS IN LESSON 541:

1) I remember thinking how screwed up yet darkly funny it would have been if Shimaru was killed right there and that was like the end of his character in the series. But besides that, he took cannon fire for Kondou, so he’s a hero in my books.

2) So so sad. And yet I kept on thinking the whole time, wait, you have Nobume! I know she technically never returns his email but he DOES have someone to email to.

3) And that’s when I understood completely why he would work so well with Takasugi: they both have the same grievance against the country and the world.

4) Ok, I loved how this was set up: three guys trying to surprise attack Gintoki, which is of course totally nerve-wracking...

5) ...but then he not only totally blows them away with one strike...

6)...he then instantly turns around to block Oboro’s strike with HIS WRIST. Holy shit this man is amazing. If I had a dick it would’ve been totally hard.

7) ...and then it would’ve completely wilted at the sight of this monster. I think as soon as he appeared, I had a sinking feeling who he might be, even though I couldn’t figure out for the life of me why or how. 

8) Kagura the Wise Queen.

9) I just loved everything that Kagura was saying in this chapter. I worship her.

10) I still thought Nobume had actually murdered his entire family; I’m sure everyone did at this point, so given that...

11)...Isaburo was practically near sainthood for me since he still took her in and raised her.

12) Ugh, she’s so sweet. We’re so not worthy of such an angel!

13) I don’t know if I teared up the first time I saw this, but I definitely teared up this time around.

14) Guh...the man is not even real. Went from villain to saint completely. Sorachi-sama is amazing.

15) Nobume blocking the strike that was meant for Kagura. Loved her for that!

16) Yep, pretty much freaked out when I realized that Okita, Kagura and Nobume was about to face off against this monster. 

SHIPS TALLY:

Okita x Kagura: I am totally counting this moment because Sougo’s angry reaction was not because Nobume threw that Jon Snow line at him, but because she was holding her sword to Kagura’s throat. Okita looked ready to murder Nobume; bless him.

Kagura x Nobume: I could totally board this ship. They’d make a super cute couple. Plus, Nobume IS kinda similar to Okita so really, why the hell not?

Isaburo x Nobume: again, from Nobume’s point of view, I can totally see how she could grow to love him as a woman once she is an adult. Feelings are complex sometimes.

MY 12 FAVORITE MOMENTS IN LESSON 545:

1) Well, except for this moment...seeing Gintoki blasting Utsuro away with his sword definitely would qualify as a favorite moment, even though his attempt ultimately did not have any effect whatsoever.

2) Oboro being an asshole and rubbing that salt into Gin-chan’s wound...yeah, didn’t like that much but I remembered being affected by it.

3) Ugh, my heart. Poor Gin-chan.

4) I loved that even though Gintoki already knew who that guy was, he still couldn’t believe it since nothing about Utsuro’s existence made sense at that point.

5) Bless Nobume for saying that to Gintoki.

6) Totally don’t blame Gintoki’s shock and confusion...I was confused too.

7) I loved seeing them go wild, the Shinsengumi and the Joui, side-by-side.

8) I just loved Zura’s monologue, which was basically about dying besides friends. Beautiful.

9) I thought it was so sweet that Isaburo was the one who gave Nobume her name. Although, now that I think about it, what did he call her the entire time she was growing up? Little crow or something? Huh.

10) This whole sequence, which is basically Nobume trying to fight and survive her way back to Isaburo, and he the same in return, made me a bit weepy the first time I saw it. The whole time I just kept on thinking about Zura’s words.

11) Yeah, I totally cried here. I really love their relationship. And at this point, I still thought Nobume had slaughtered his entire family, so the fact that they still had this bond and Isaburo still loved her that much just made me really like him a lot.

12) Bless Kondou for coming to Isaburo’s rescue!

SHIPS TALLY:

Gintoki x Hijikata: they were so in sync: they cussed at the same time. How adorable is that?

Gintoki x Okita: Sougo really risked his life for the Yorozuya and at least in this moment, I liked that he especially was concerned for Gintoki.

Shinpachi x Yamazaki: serious shit was going down, I know, but I still thought it was sweet how they were attached at the hip the entire time.

Kagura x Nobume: same reasoning applies to them as it did to ShinYama. 

Isaburo x Nobume: if I’m going to be honest, I really only see them as parent/child; however, just because I don’t ship them doesn’t mean I don’t see why some would.

MY 8 FAVORITE MOMENTS IN LESSON 540:

1) Still haunting.

2) All that rage in his eyes: it’s amazing Isaburo was able to stop himself.

3) Nobume’s sword getting wayyy too close to Sougo’s face.

4) My heart hurt a little; I loved little Nobume for regretting what she did (or what we thought she did).

5) I love that Shouyou was able to influence and change her, making Nobume an unofficial student of the Shoka Sonjuku.

6) I wanted to HUG her...even though at that point, she appeared to have murdered Isaburo’s wife and newborn child. I couldn’t blame her. I blamed the Naraku for turning her into a monster.

7) I loved that she started crying just telling Okita about Isaburo, really showed how strong her attachment to him was.

8) OMFGGGGGG. I can ship this.

SHIPS TALLY:

Okita x Kagura x Nobume: see above. I approve totally.

Isaburo x Hijikata: I can see why people would ship them, if anyone does, and Isaburo looked kinda good with that blood streaming down his face. I guess him turning into a bad guy really improved the way I saw him.

Isaburo x Nobume: not when she was a kid of course, and she’s still on the young side now, but I could imagine Nobume growing up developing more than platonic feelings for him since she obviously respects and loves him. The thought did cross my mind briefly so I figured I’d just mention it here.
