I live by you, desire
I stand by you, walk through the fire
Your love is my scripture
Let me into your encryption
A small sigh erupted from the young girlâs lips as she sprawled out across the living room floor, mouthing along to the words while her head bobbed from side to side. The phone in her thin hands blasted the music as she aimlessly pressed buttons. She couldnât take the quiet for too long and right now, it was too quiet. Rolling onto her back, Aubrie emitted another sigh, slightly louder than last time to make her point more obvious. Glancing at the clock in the top corner of the screen, a small pout formed on her lips. Eleven thirty-six; the night was still young.
It was the first night of Aubrieâs week long vacation, spending the day sleeping to start her relaxation process. After constant school and work, she felt like a break was needed. Luckily enough for her, school was having a short break to free up her days and her grandparents were nice enough to give her nights off. Aubrie took the vacation humbly, grateful for it but now, she wanted to do something. She was tired of sitting around and had only one thing in mind.
When she heard of the vacation that she was getting, Aubrie quickly called up Isaiah, making plans with him as soon as she could. It was almost a given, an unspoken rule for the two to hangout when they both had the opportunity to. Despite only meeting him a couple of months prior, she felt like she had known him for the better part of her life. He was a good friend, someone that Aubrie was glad to have met. Rolling back onto her stomach, she couldnât help but glance towards his direction. To say she had grown fond of the man would be an understatement. She often tried to push the thoughts to the back of her head, knowing that he didnât feel the same way about her. She was just a friend and Aubrie accepted that. Though, sometimes she wished it would be something more.
Shaking the thoughts from her head, the girl pushed herself into a sitting position as the song ending, bringing back the silence that she hated so much. With a quick movement of her hand she playfully slapped his leg, glancing up at the man with the innocent large eyes she tried so many times on. She moved across his living room quickly to get closer to the boy, making sure her point would get across.
âIsaiah, Iâm bored,â she said frankly as she poked his leg. âI want to get drunk, letâs go out!â Pushing herself up on the couch next to him, she couldnât help but rest her head against his shoulder, trying her absolute best to get a reaction from the older boy. Before she could wait for an answer, Aubrie wrapped her arms around his shoulders with a small pout. Affection was nothing new for Aubrie, she did it to almost everyone and especially her friends. They were all used to it, especially Isaiah. It wasnât like he had much of a choice in the matter, so Aubrie made sure that he was accustomed to it. She could read his body when she was physical with him but now, it was a blank slate. Not one hug back or a joking push away all night and she was beginning to worry.
Aubrie couldnât shake the small pit that was forming in her stomach. He was quiet all night, being both mentally and physically out of it. It was unusual for the both that always made her laugh, the Isaiah she was used to, was all smiles and jokes. He made her laugh, and if he was feeling bad, she would make him laugh. But this time, nothing seemed to shake his mode. The only thing she was left to think of was alcohol. A little drinking made everyone feel better, even if it was for one night.Â
