(If you can get a Battle type to position itself conveniently, great! I had that problem. XD)
((I set it to guard, stand next to it, and wait for the demons to swarm. Once there's just a mass of them, I pick the closest one and mash the Brute Force command until I get lucky. I doubt it's the easiest way, but it works for me, so. xD))

Did you try equipping a fist-weapon, knocking them up higher into the air with an uppercut, and jump-stealing?
((Yeah, I've tried that. By the time I'd get up next to them, the stealing option would be gone. It took me a few tries to remember that having a battle-type do the uppercut gives you just a bit more time to jump-steal. Or so I think, anyway.))
