How hard is it to look straight into the camera and say "no, me and my bandmate were never in love. I'm in love with my gf who's amazing and frankly I hope people stop speculating about something that isn't real"
No larrie would try to twist that. Even if they did, then antis at least have a footing when they call us delusional. We don't take his denials seriously because he doesn't answer them seriously. The smirk when he says "megirlfriend Eleanor", stuttering through his words, not making eye contact ONCE, and going on a tangent about iphone conspiracies, and let's not forget that "obviously" at the very end. I can lie better than that. And it's almost like he didn't even try. When larries have been "getting on his nerves" and "ruined his friendship with one of the people he was closest to in the band", you would think that he can say "no it was never real" without making jokes or talking about conspiracy theories.
So no, larries don't ignore what he's saying when he says stuff like that. I genuinely believe he means it when he says he doesn't like the hate that Eleanor gets. I will believe that because he's said it and frankly I don't think he's the type of person who would want her to get hate even if he's closeted. But there's not been one interview where he hasn't denied it with a straight face. He always makes jokes or sarcastic remarks. When thousands of people believe in "an iPhone conspiracy" as you call it, wouldn't you be a little more serious and tell them to stop? And no tweets don't really count. Just one straight denial, that's all I ask.

I do agree that most of the “in person” Larry denials have a weird, deflective, disingenuous quality. And that’s true of even the most recent ones (like the iPhone one you linked and Harry’s “Sweet Creature” interview). I mean, a lot of people speculated about Harry and Nick, but they laughed it off and denied it unambiguously, iirc. I’m not going to say Larry has never been denied, because it has. But I will admit that not all the denials were equally convincing. And rightly or wrongly, some only reinforced Larries’ beliefs.
my friend and I have decided we're gonna write the claire temple show who's on board for this hospital dramedy with added superheroes for flavor
