This is the name of possibly the earliest-living historical person we know by name,  Iry-Hor a pharaoh of Upper Egypt who reigned during the early 32nd century BCE.

Today I learned about Iry-Hor, the earliest known ruler of Egypt. Iry-Hor was a predynastic pharaoh of Egypt, ruling in the 32nd century BCE. The linked wikipedia article has a lot of interesting information about the long efforts by researchers and Egyptologists to confirm Iry-Hor’s existence as well as his status as a monarch that I won’t go into here. The cool tidbit to take away from this is that along with being the earliest-known Egyptian king, Iry-Hor is possibly the earliest historical person known by name, period.

Pharaoh Iry-Hor is the first human whose name we know. He lived during the 32nd century BC.
