That’s why you’ll never find this series’ partisans talking about what happened to Mirri Maz Duur or Irri or the dozens of unnamed others the way they insist, forcefully and self righteously, that you talk about Cersei or Alicent or Catelyn or Daenerys. That’s why they get genuinely offended when someone treats the chorus of gruesomely victimized women (and men) conceived of to drive Daenerys’ arc forward in the same way they were just demanding you treat Daenerys Cersei Alicent Catelyn etc. The extractionist relationship GRRM and his readers have with the nonwestern world is replicated in their storytelling. White girls being abused is a crime, it exists in a moral universe - brown girls being abused is scenery that only becomes relevant if the white girls feel something about it.
