     For the longest time Freed had thought that they would never engage in a moment of tenderness like this again. Not because his feelings for her had gone completely extinct at any point though rather because of outward circumstances that had torn them apart. Ravyn's disappearance, feigned death, had made him more than upset; it had left him to deal with feelings of loss and mourning. The loss of a like-minded individual, the loss of a partner, the loss of love. She was the first to thaw the ice around his heart, the first he ever developed romantic feelings for.

     The circumstances under which they met and under which they had fallen in love hadn't been the best, that much he could say. Some might argue that this was the only reason they fell for each other, after all - driven into places that weren't good for either of them, carrying out horrible deeds that definitely left an impact on them. Well, Freed could confidently say that it wasn't just their shared experiences that had them stick together like gum. That this love hadn't only been a way to cope.

     No, his love turned out to be something that lasted and now that Ravyn had suddenly crashed into his life again, he could feel this love begin to burst into an ever-burning fire again.

     His eyes had been closed whilst she ran her fingers through his emerald tresses, relaxation and warm fuzzy feeling taking over his body and mind after the shared act of intimacy. Freed wanted nothing more than to melt into the gentle gesture, simply be with her. With Ravyn still resting on top of his body, he lets his palms rest on her waist, fingers gently caressing the skin beneath. This was bliss. He felt happy.

     And then the question was thrown into the room, then withdrawn, and then… It needed to be answered. There was no way around it.

     Freed opened his eyes, met with the look of adoration in her golden ones. It hit him like a tidal wave, stomach churning with a feeling that was entirely positive, and the right the next second it pained him to think that he had possibly strung Ravyn along with their physical encounters since her return. Perhaps he had been too convinced of his own feelings that he had forgotten to outright state them towards her - she, who needed to hear them the most.

     "No," he begun, gaze running along her body though not really focusing her, in thought. Tone of voice calm. "No, you're absolutely right to ask. And you deserve a proper answer." Freed's eyes met hers once more. Digits ceased their movements, stopping to caress her skin. Instead he brought one of his hands to dark strands of hair, gently brushing them behind her ear.

     "When I told you that I never banished you from my mind nor my heart, I meant every single word of it. We both enjoyed the physical intimacy we shared, back then and now, but all this time I had desired it to be more than just physical. I let myself in to the thought that it was. That it is more than that. I am not able to put into words what dread I felt when hearing of your disappearance, the affection for you that I harbor in my heart."

     The bed creaked slightly under the shifting weight as he adjusted their posture, sitting up with one arm wrapped around her. His hand that had previously brushed aside her hair now came to rest on her cheek, the love and warmth of his heart now fully reaching his eyes. "I apologize that I haven't told you earlier - I love you, Ravyn, and I will not, under any circumstance, allow anybody to force us apart again. That is, if you feel the same."

     And judging by the way she had voiced her question, by the way her gaze was staring into his he had a feeling that she did. It was all he could hope for, that they would both be allowed to be light and float in this utter bliss once more.
