an - uhm, this is the point where the chaps start getting a bit longer as the plot now has more substance!! (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ)
summary - laura tries to go about her daily college life like any other day, but something seems to get stuck on her mind..
Her abrupt alarm woke her up harshly. She rolled over in her bed, smacking her phone until she successfully turned the alarm off. The balls of her palms moved up to rub the sleep from her eyes, a yawn simultaneously pulling from her throat.
It took her a few minutes before she was able to properly wake up. As well as just not wanting to leave the comfort and warmth of her sheets. When she knew she had to inevitably get up, she peeled herself away from the warmth.
As she staggered into the kitchen, a sweet smell hit her senses. That definitely seemed to wake her up a bit.
In the kitchen, she spotted her roommate making breakfast. She smiled at the sight of the girl who was too immersed in dancing to the music to notice Laura.
"'morning Sam" she greeted her best friend as she sat down at the small dining table they had by the kitchen. The black haired girl turned to look over at Laura.
She grinned as she took in the sight of her, hair tussled and tangled, her face still half dead. She picked up her phone to snap a picture of her.
"You always wake up so beautifully. I'm jealous." Sam teased her as she lowered the volume of the song and set her phone down on the counter again. Laura rolled her eyes, already having known that her friend would say something like that.
"No, don't be! Ugh, you're such a sweetheart, S." Her faux politeness drew a laugh from Sam.
When Sam made her way over to the dining table with a plate, the sweet smell increased. As she set it down for Laura, she saw that it was a few waffles with presumably a maple drizzle and some powdered sugar that had already melted a bit from the warmth and the drizzle.
She suddenly realized how hungry she was. As well as the fact that she had been craving something sweet. She smiled appreciatively at her friend, glad that she had taken the time to make breakfast for the both of them.
Walking through the halls of her college, she already wanted to go back to her dorm. To just chill with Sam while they play some random background music and gossip about people in their year. Or maybe do a just chatting stream with her followers.
She just made her way into her art class early, having been a bit behind on her work. As well as her not being able to work on it after school much since she had studying to be doing.
Her class was going rather peacefully. As peaceful as it could get with her chatting to a few of the other people at her table, which included a close friend, Parker. Though her attention was drawn away from her painting, and over to the person that had appeared at the door. She sat at a table near the door, so it was hard for her to miss the student standing by the door.
The teacher had just left somewhere, going to a storage room or something. The guy's eyes darted around the room a bit, seeming almost confused, and if not nervous even.
Eventually, they made eye contact. She had decided that she should actually probably at least ask him what he was doing here.
"Uhm.. you good?" She asked him, pausing her music as she shifted her headphones off of one ear. She couldn't help but look him up and down, taking in the basic black tee with some grey sweats.
He nodded a bit, his messy brunette curls followed suit. If you looked close enough, you could see the deep brown colour of his eyes dart around a bit before landing on her again.
"Actually- do you know where I could get some cardboard? I uh- was told I could get some here. If you have some." his voice snapped her out of whatever thoughts she had been currently thinking. She blinked a few times before realizing she actually had to answer him.
"Yeah! There should be some in that closet there, let me show you" the soft plastic-on-plastic could be heard as the paint brush between her fingers was set down on the pallet.
She showed him to where the guy could find some of the cardboard he seemed to need so badly. When she showed him the stash that had just been growing over time, he smiled, giving her a grateful nod.
"Thank you, I appreciate it"
She nodded in return a bit, her eyes still locked onto him. Her figure stood in her spot for a little bit before she realized she was being awkward and just went back to her seat at her table.
"So.. who was that cutie?" Parker raised her brows at Laura, propping up her chin in her palm, her gaze locked on the blonde as she sat down once more.
She simply shrugged her shoulders a bit, watching the guy's retreating figure down the hall before he had turned the corner. She finally pulled her eyes away from him, turning her attention over to her friend now. A soft "hm?" could be heard coming from her, making it clear that she wasn't listening.
"The guy? The little brunette boy you just talked to, do you even know him?" She rephrased her initial question, more interested in getting more information now.
Laura's brows furrowed together a bit, glancing out into the empty hall again like she'd somehow summon him to come back with her thoughts alone.
Come to think of it, she doesn't think she's even seen his face around. Sure, the school was quite huge, massive even, but you would at least recognize a face you've seen around, right?...
She had tried to go about her day as normal, but that small, few minute interaction wouldn't leave her head. It would just linger on the back of her mind. She didn't even understand why.
While at the cafeteria with Sam, Parker, and a few other friends at a nearby table, her eyes searched the open area for that familiar face. There were a few people that she had almost mistaken for the guy, but none of them were him.
"-she's probably gonna be down for it anyway, right Laura?" Her eyes snapped over to Sam as the girl spoke. She laughed, rolling her eyes at her.
"You're actually so deaf" She teased with a little smile, leaning back onto her palms as she sat on the table.
"Sorry, I hadn't been listening. I was just thinking.." Her words were dismissive, her eyes already going back to search for the guy.
Sam raised a brow at her, seeming to notice something was up with her. Normally she was quick to add to the conversation or whatever the discussion was. Something was off..
"Are you.. looking for something? Like a teacher or somethin'?" The palms of her hands left the table's surface as she sat up, trying to follow her gaze for whatever the girl had been searching.
"Probably that boy from earlier" Parker mentioned before biting into her sandwich, her words making it seem like it was something that everyone already seemed to know. That just made Sam's brows furrow in confusion as her attention turned from Parker back over to Laura, clearly waiting for an explanation.
She sighed, leaning back against the table with one leg tucking under the other.
"Some guy walked into art earlier and I've literally never seen him before." She explained. Though the lack of a proper explanation seemed to dissatisfy her friend.
"...and? What did he look like? Was he good looking? Was there an issue?" Her hands gestured for the girl to give more details about the interaction and what may have gone down.
"No, there weren't any issues. He was just looking for cardboard and I simply showed him where it was," she explained a bit more, tilting her head up to look over at her. With the expression on Sam's face, she already knew what she was thinking.
"And yes, he was good looking. He had a little bit of a nerd vibe about him to be honest. Definitely our type" she described. Sam grinned, like she was already imagining some guy that looked nothing like who she had actually talked to.
"What's his name? We might know him" Parker suddenly asked, making her look the other way to her friend on her other side.
As she thought back to the short conversation they had. A few details about what they talked about were fuzzy, even if it happened just earlier today. But one thing became apparent.
"Oh for fucks sake.." she mutters, burying her face into her hands as she bunches over. There was a quiet silence as a blanket of realization fell over the three of them. Laura almost couldn't believe that she hadn't asked about something as silly as his name.
That was until Sam's unamused voice cut through the air.
"You are actually the dumbest person I've ever met"
