"If you are depressed, you are living in the past. If you are anxious, you are living in the future. If you're at peace, you're living in the present." - Lao Tzo. 🙏🏻 I heard this quote a few years ago and it really resonated with me. During my 5am walk around #carisfarm with the pupster 🐶this morning, I listened to a @ted__talks radio podcast on #happiness and it reminded me of this quote. 🤔The #tedtalksradio #podcast spoke about the importance of being present. According to the podcast, our mind is wondering 47% of the time and not "in the moment" (ranging as high as 65% when we are showering to as low as 10% when we are having sex - #ipleadthefifth ). Great reminder this morning about how important it is to be "all there" in no matter what I'm doing -- to let go of the past and stop worrying about the future. 🆒 The people who I admire both professionally and personally have this mastered. Mindfulness is really about being in the moment, no matter what you're doing. 😎 It's about giving the person in front of you all your attention at a #networking event instead of the 10 other people you'd like to meet. It's about enjoying the company of the person in front of you on a date instead of thinking about a person who hurt you in the past. It's about enjoying every tasteful bite during lunch instead of stressing about client deadlines. It's about giving your all in a workout instead of thinking about how you really want to lose xyz pounds... 🆗There is a lot to be said to just accept where we are in life, appreciate the blessings we have and to really be in the moment, no matter what we are doing and who we are with. I am going to try hard to be fully present in everything that I do. (📷 by @travelismylovestory ). (at The Frying Pan - NYC)
