First it was spring...no wait it was summer, now we're expecting this magical device in September 2011. Whatever the case, Joshua Topolsky & friends came up with a rendering. Here are some of the key features:

slimmer

home button doubles up as a gesture pad

bezel minimized, screen-size maximized (3.7")

retina display improvements

inductive charging (Nikola Tesla rejoices in grave!)

GSM / CDMA chipset (Carmen San Diego rejoices...where in the world is she?)

p.s. not sure if a blog can even have a post scriptum, but if this AT&T/T-Mobile M&A takes place, I'll actually be able to legitimately own an iPhone without jail-breaking it.

p.p.s. what will the AT&T/T-Mobile merger do to the Blackberry lineup? After all, they're all pretty much the same phones, just subsidized by different mobos. For RIM's sake I hope innovation, not homogenization. 

p.p.p.s (does such a thing exist?) If the iPhone5 is CDMA / GSM enabled, basically a world phone, then there will be no naturally aspirated differences between the two largest mobos. homogenization...again? No wait! Verizon has:
