Been getting into creepypasta videos, specifically the variant of them where the story is visualized by tf2 sfm character models and props giving a display of what the story is talking about, and being the toon lover I am I decided to watch a 1 hour video covering the entire of the Abandoned by Disney series because yes, it was there more than spooky Mickey going "Wanna see my head come off!?" And watching it made me realize how many people probably never seen, read, or heard the full series and only fixated on inverted Mickey.
First and foremost I wanna remark how inverted Mickey—or "Photonegative Mickey" if you prefer—is actually the weakest point of the first creepypasta in the series. Like seriously, up until that point there's some great description and build-up regarding this abaonded place and I decided to close my eyes to better visualize it all in my head because everything is so good it's best if your own imagination takes care of the visuals. When it comes to the actual inverted Mickey though it's just... odd? I didn't write the original story and all I got is assumptions, but it feels like Inverted Mickey's appearance in the original pasta was soley so there would be a character for people to fixate on as back then there was little care for actual story telling as Mr thing of bleach "he got a feeling" was oh so popular proved that you didn't even NEED a good story for people to like it as the main antagonist would just work as a mascot to attract attention. Inverted Mickey both funnily enough is that mascot which is fitting ig, but he himself doesn't add anything and actively kills the tension when he shows up despite that supposed to be the big scary moment. His appearance is even more confusing as there's other creatures or "corruptus" that are implemented way better with some just being very vague like a disembodied voice within Room 0. Now Inverted Mickey is explained and he fits right in with the story/world building of Abandoned By Disney, but by himself he does not fucking work in an isolated story and it's crazy how he's remembered more than Abandoned By Disney itself as a story and even series. I think to even make the character scary you HAVE to read/listen to the prequel "A Few Suggestions", where we see how a inverted Mickey came to be and the slow and steady fall of Mowgil's palace otherwise you're just left with this strange character that's supposed to be the payoff but really isn't.
Anyways uhh, read/watch the full Abandoned by Disney series, it's actually really fucking good and even at its worst it's still better than 90% of the creepypastas released at the time. The video I watched was specifically right here and it's low-key something I replay to listen to while I sleep
