TRASH PICK UP DAY ON SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 25th
Dear Friends of Penestanan Kaja,
Penestanan Kaja village and residents, along with our Banjar Chiefs and the local and expat community are creating a TRASH PICK UP day on Sunday, November 25th.
As the rainy season begins, the amount of trash becomes even more problematic, especially as waters attempt to flow through the Subaks and our local river. We would like to offer our help in this endeavor.
Please join us at the Volleyball field of Penestanan Kaja at 6 am this Sunday.
This time was decided by the Banjar so that the villagers and people who work can still attend.
Also it is less hot! We’ve identified trash pick up areas and will assign teams to fill the baskets provided.
As much as possible we are trying to raise awareness by providing the least plastic materials possible, using bamboo baskets instead of plastic bags.
We estimate the event will conclude by 8 - 8:30 am at the Volleyball court.
We plan to provide Nasi Jinggo for volunteers: simple food, as a ‘thank you’ for all the hard work.
We are asking for donations to make this happen – IDR 2 to 300.000 – or whatever you’re comfortable with – to offset the costs. The costs are simple; about 30-40 bamboo baskets, about 400 – 500 banana leaf meals prepared by the village and ice cream for all the volunteers.
There will be three locations where you can drop off your donation.
Kindly try to donate by Thursday/ Friday: Café Yellow Flower has kindly volunteered to have donation box to which we will attach the pamphlet explaining the event Also kindly Pak Made Cahyadi’s has offered his warung Tj’s Warung near the Bale Banjar intersection. There will also be a donation box and pamphlet set up there.
Please write the amount donated and your name (optional) on the list we will provide behind the pamphlet. All extra funds will be saved for the next pick up day.
(If you would like to give your donation personally, Anouk will be at café Vespa on Thursday from 11- 12 wearing a long dress in white and turmeric color stripes).
Please consider taking a couple of hours next Sunday morning to participate together, raise awareness, bring some care to our Ubud.
