An interview with Jelena āGigiā Hadid, twenty-one year old model, fashion icon, instagram master, mother of two, && wife to be. Weāre very excited to share with you our Star Celebrity for the month of July, thanks so much for spending some time with us, Gigi!
1. First of all thank you for sparing some time for our interview, we appreciate you taking the time out of spending with your family ā speaking of, congratulations on your beautiful new addition. How does it feel now to have Landon how with you and the rest of your family?
Of course! I appreciate you actually wanting to interview me since Iāve been quite boring lately. Thank you so, so much. Having him here is so overwhelming in all of the best ways. I feel like I learn something new about the little personality heās forming every minute of the day and yet it feels like heās been here forever. Donāt even get me started on seeing Selena and Naomi with him. My heart explodes almost constantly these days and I truly feel like Iām living a dream.
2. What were the best and worst phases of your life?
As cheesy as it sounds, I think Iām currently in the best phase of my life. Iām engaged to the love of my life and Iām a mama to the two most perfect little humans. Iāve got an incredible family, amazing friends, and Iām surrounded by so much love and positivity. As far as the worst phases, Iād probably say dealing with being diagnosed with Hashimotoās disease and all of the things that came with that as one. I faced a lot of scrutiny in the media for things that no one knew were medical issues and having that pressure on top of being scared of a lot of unknown medical issues was overwhelming. Along the same lines, dealing with Selenaās health issues was one of the worst phases of my life as well. I would have gladly put all of the stuff she dealt with on myself if it meant she didnāt have to suffer. There is no pain quite like seeing the people you love struggle and be in pain knowing that thereās absolutely nothing you can do about it.
3. As someone whoās newly engaged, what can you say to everyone out there whoās getting ready to get married to their partner ā how do you know youāre really ready for marriage?
I am a firm believer in āwhen you know, you know.ā I think that when you find the person youāre meant to be with forever, you just feel this incredible sense of peace in knowing that youāre exactly where youāre meant to be. My advice would be not to ignore that feeling. Whether itās an obvious one or something a bit more subtle, pay attention. Another thing is not to let other peopleās opinions change how you feel. I think that there are some cases in which a person is just not a good person and so if your family or close friends are concerned for you, of course listen. Otherwise, you have to learn to ignore other peopleās opinions sometimes.
4. So if Selena werenāt in the picture and you were apart of the singles crowd, what are your thoughts on online dating or tinder? Would we have caught Pre-Selena Gigi on any of those dating apps?
I think that online dating and dating apps are fun. I mean, they obviously work for some people, donāt they? Oh gosh, you probably wouldnāt have found me doing it, though. Iām not clever or witty enough to make myself seem interesting and I also kind of feel like people would just think Iām some random person catfishing even though Iād be using pictures of myself.
5. Whatās the craziest thing youāve ever done for love?
The craziest thing Iāve ever done for love? Hmm. I donāt know if Iāve ever done anything over the top crazy. I mean, Iāve taken flights to cities Selena was working in or performing in, even if it meant I flew somewhere, saw her for a few hours, and then had to fly back for work. I feel like Selena and I arenāt grand gesture people in general. Does that make us sound bad? Cause, I definitely donāt mean it in a bad way. I know damn well that she loves me, but she shows it in the sweet, understated ways that I always tend to appreciate even more. She makes me food when she knows Iāve been too busy to do it, she fills my car up with gas if she notices itās low, she runs me a bath with all of the things that make it smell good. She takes care of me and loves me so deeply that I donāt need to be flown to Paris or covered in rose petals to know that. Although, babe, if youāre listening⦠I love a good surprise trip every so often.
6. Is there something out there, a thought, an idea, a current event, or a fear that you find deeply unsettling?
Thereās a lot about this current world that has me extremely unsettled. I think that as a mom, the sheer number of times that children are bringing guns into schools is probably at the top of the list. The thought of sending my babies to a school and knowing that thereās a chance that something awful can happen is enough to have me wanting to homeschool them. I try really hard not to let fear overcome my life, but when it comes to my babies, my inner mama bear doesnāt know how to control that just yet.
7. If you could tell your former self one thing right now what would it be?
Iād tell former Gigi to just hold on cause everything does get better. Everything that feels like itās absolute chaos will eventually slow down. The struggles, the heartache, all of it. It gets better and itās worth sticking it out for.
8. What are some of your own personal goals in the next 5 years?
Personal goals? Even though I just had a baby, I think Iād maybe like to add another little human to our clan within the next 5 years. I also want to marry that super hottie of mine. Hmm. Maybe travel a bit more with the kids. Itās my goal to just be happy and healthy so that I can in turn make sure that the people I love are the same.
9. Can you pin point the moment in your life where you were the happiest?
The happiest moment in my life was hands down when Selena brought Naomi to visit in the hospital right after Landon was born. The four of us all got into the bed and I felt so overwhelmed with love and contentment and I couldnāt imagine ever being happier than I was in that moment.
10. Thank you for taking the time to speak with us, we know how busy you are, we really appreciate it ā weāve got one more question for you, out of the positive emotions of compassion, positivity, enthusiasm and initiative, which one is your biggest strength?
No, thank you. I had lots of fun. Stumping me on the last one, I see. I think Iād have to say compassion. I am definitely the kind of person who feels what other people feel. Itās definitely a blessing and a curse all wrapped into one. Iām also a sympathetic crier which is quite a sight to see.
