sorry for being silent. i guess i just had better things to do than disappoint you guys. theres no surface. theres no oxygen. theres no CHANCE. NO CHANCE at this planet being the one. NO CHANCE at us, dr. wyatt brighton campbelll and dr. jason taylor mann, being saved. we were sent to the other side of the observable universe to be left to DIE. and they knew. HE knew. dr. brand KNEW. he KNEW there was no chance at plan A. he led us to our death with nothing but a half baked equation and crossed fingers. and for what? for me and him to repopulate? where? in our tiny little pod that has a month left of life support? our tiny little pod that doesnt have any more cryosleep pods? we cant even sleep it out. we cant dream our lives away.

its ironic. we cant dream our lives away and yet the thing that sent us here WAS a dream. a dream that maybe, JUST maybe, humanity will live on. a dream that maybe we would find a new mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.

maybe its just supposed to happen. memento mori. remember you must die, right? "you" can be taken personally, as in, you SPECIFICALLY must die. what if its "you" as in, "we." us. humanity. everything must die. its just a law. these are the last years for us. blight will kill us all. memento mori.

I might as well send a message too. Um.. I'm scared. He's scared. This planet has nothing for us, and it has made that very clear. Wyatt summed it up pretty well, despite his.. sour attitude. I understand it though, I really do. He's talked to me about the "memento mori" thing. I think he's right, in a way. Maybe humanity will really just be a short event in the timeline of the universe. I just hope that we will be remembered. We, as in, me and Campbell. I love him, and he knows it. He loves me too. We're so scared.

two hours ago, three people and two robots like KIPP came to our planet. they heard our broadcasts.

i didnt recognize them, and neither did jason. they told us that the blight had worsened. only corn grew in some areas. the population was smaller than when me and jason left.

their names are brand, romilly, cooper, case, and tars. brand is the only woman on board. shes about my height, short dark hair and a kind face. romilly is a bit taller, hes curious but kind of awkward. hes the oldest of the three (due to a time mishap iirc. things happened before they got to us) but not by a lot. cooper is the pilot i think. hes firm and has a good heart, i can tell. hes got a strong nose and hes a father. war vet too. case and tars are the robots. they look like kipp but a little.. Fresher. newer? case is less talkative than tars, but i think tars is a little funnier. his humor is similar to mine :)

anyways. we've been rescued and now we're aboard the endurance, but things got Messy iykwim before they let us up. jason had an argument with cooper. i knew they were going to as soon as we spilled the news of "oh btw our planet was never inhabitable we just made you waste fuel to come and get us lmao." so Theres That. things are still tense. like, between everyone. but especially them.

theyre letting us rest right now. i hear them talking in the other room about how much food theres left, and how things were scarce as is before two more mouths to feed came along. i mean they did have four though so theres food for me. dr mann can suck it lmfaoooo their dead crewmate's food is MINE

calling him dr mann is weird. hes jason. hes my jason. ew. hes not mine thats weird. but hes my jason! like do you understand. hes not MY jason but hes my jason. whatever. anyways. me and my jason are going to bed. brand let me sleep in her bed (we love you brand) and jason is in the dead guys bed. hes trying not to dwell on that too hard.

hello there! my name is dr. campbell, but you guys can call me wyatt. : -)

long story short, the earth is dying to some sort of fungus thats eating up the oxygen in the air and nutrients in the soil, and a few astronauts (including me!) were shipped off into a wormhole to find a new home before earth becomes uninhabitable. this whole thing is called "the lazarus mission." sounds hopeful. /sarc

three pairs of two were sent to the three planets we found on the other side of the wormhole, all orbiting a hugeee black hole that NASA calls "gargantua." me and a colleague of mine, dr. mann (as well as a recycled military robot), were sent to what seems to be a cold planet with a thick atmosphere? its hard to tell from up here. we just entered orbit a few days ago.

my name is Dr. Wyatt Campbell. i am a 27 year old trans man and i like astrophysics and computers. i think im the first transgender person to travel outside of the solar system. i think im the first transgender person to do.... a lot LMAO. my favorite band is Will Wood and the Tapeworms. dr. mann thinks "will is a spazz." i think mann has bad taste /j.

my colleague, Dr. Jason Mann, is about 31. he was a botanist before he was an astronaut. his work was quite impressive! in terms of music, he likes anything that isnt country or disco. honestly real.

accompanying us on our little interstellar mission is a repurposed military robot/android/ai(?) thats called KIPP. hes quite a pleasure, actually. i didnt think i would like him, but over the course of 11 months on the ship, ive gotten to know both him and dr. mann better.

i guess this is probably just going to be my personal journal. so maybe, if i died, i wouldnt be forgotten. i would leave more than footprints on a planet no one will ever step foot on again. it will be a way to stay in touch with earth, too, i think. i miss it already. i know dr. mann does too.

Hey there. I'm not quite sure what Wyatt's goal is with this thing, but I think its cool anyways. Didn't know we could contact earth. Almost makes me a little homesick. Wish you all well.

Personally, I suppose I've grown quite fond of him. And KIPP. They're both so great. KIPP likes to go out and preform atmospheric scans. ..None of the data he sends us looks good. I think I'm scared. I don't know if they'll come back for us. Not with how this planet looks.

heres a sketch i did of what i plan to make our new home look like! dr. mann insisted that i added another chair. ignore the smudge at the bottom, he grabbed the page earlier and his hands were gross :/

we finally set up base. there was a bad storm that passed through right after we arrived so we had to bolt the legs of the ship into the ground while we waited it out so it wouldnt tip over </3 but it was soo worth it cause i have a REAL bed now ugh

alsooo about the planet. we think theres another layer of land below us that might be habitable? honestly i doubt it but i dont see why not to at least check.
