Got #goforbroke from the Japanese American brother Noah @dry.inc in honor of one of my grandfathers, born on a sugar plantation in Hawaii, he was enlisted in the #442ndregimentalcombatteam #usArmy during WW2, they coined the term. The next tat I'm getting is in honor of one of grandmothers, she and her family were sent to #TuleLake #internmentcamp. Being from Sacramento they lost their farm, all of their possessions, and culture. It's a deep conversational piece about Americans of Japanese descent, being treated as the enemy, the legal term 'enemy non-aliens' and 'relocated' to segregation camps including women and children even though about 60% of the people there had never even stepped foot on Japan. It's even hard to blame the innocent civilians who died in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Its difficult when an entire population is blamed for what the government of their 'place of origin' is doing. Some people around the world will blame all Americans for what the government does and has done. Is that fair? As an average american citizen I know that the average civilian around the world are not international players, they just go to work and make a living. It's about civilian Americans of Japanese descent being treated as enemy POWs but who's families have been in the US and Hawaii for generations and not the Japanese from Japan, innocent civilians or military. ππ½ to all my Asian brothers and sisters, no disrespect
