(Excerpt from the Fall River Rumor, October 14th.)
Smiling Slasher Strikes!
Twenty-four year old Kevin Morris was found dead in his bed at 6:35 AM this morning. He had been stabbed repeatedly and his throat had been slit, causing him to die of blood loss. His torso had also had a smiley face carved into it, along with the brief message; "HERE I AM!" Painted on the bedroom wall in the victim's blood. Upon further investigation, a note was found under the pillow of the bed which read as follows.
Ｄｉｄ ｙｏｕ ｍｉｓｓ ｍｅ?
Ｓｅｅ ｙｏｕ ｓｏｏｎ.
- Ｔｈｅ Ｓｍｉｌｉｎｇ Ｓｌａｓｈｅｒ.
As the killer is currently unknown, locals have taken to referring to them by their signature, the Smiling Slasher. The police still have no lead as to the killer's motivations, whereabouts, or identity. Douglas Morris, the father of the diseased, had this to say.
"The window was closed, but I could see that someone had messed with it. The bedroom door was locked, I had to break it open to get in. I found him like that. My wife and I, we're terrified, we just don't know what to do. Our son was the brightest thing in both of our lives. How can you go on when that's gone? How do you live? I hope to god they catch that sick bastard."
Local authorities are encouraging citizens not to leave their homes after 7:00 pm, to keep all doors and windows closed and locked, and to have a light on in their house at all times. Whoever this individual is, they are still at large and extremely dangerous. Law enforcement is requesting for anyone with information about the murderer to contact them. Any possible clues will be greatly appreciated. But for now the identity of the Smiling Slasher remains a mystery.
