I just like drawing scenarios that strike me as funny, mostly! I also write a bit. I’ll probably mostly post fandom content here, though I may throw in slice of life or ocs from time to time, as well as a few personal projects

Using WhatsApp and love privacy? Well, that may change by the end of the year.

Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, and Instagram DMs are going to be merged into one single messaging platform. 

Is it a bad thing? Well, if you’re using WhatsApp as a way to have a private chat, then yes, it can potentially be a bad thing. See, WhatsApp is one of the few IMing programs that uses end-to-end encryption. What this means is that when messages are carried over through the web, the only person who can read it is the receiving party. So, if your message is stored on their servers until you’re back online, then it won’t be seen by other people. If you for some reason deleted your WhatsApp and don’t return, the messages won’t be received by the other party because of that encryption. 

Unifying these IMs may sound like a good idea in theory, but it would mean giving up certain elements that make each service unique, which includes but not limited to changing how the encryption works and NOT being discovered. (Only time when you know someone is on WhatsApp is if they got your phone number and if ). So, if you’re using WhatsApp in hopes of NOT talking to people on Facebook, get ready to reconsider your options.
