You're an interior designer right? This is fascinating. What do you love most about your job? π (not the PPT presentations clearly hehe)
I am!! @kkruml likes to think of me as Grace Adler (which is fitting since Iβm trying to be a redhead now lol)
I actually love these types of presentations! Except this one isnβt going so well π
My Revit instructor just tried to tell me that Disney & Pixar havenβt figured out how to model hair so it moves realistically
Yo broski, Brave came out IN 2012
Name Change BS
SS: if you do one thing wrong on your name change form, weβll bury it in a pile of paperwork that no one will touch for months.
DMV: tells you that you need your updated SS card but really only need your marriage certificate.
Passport: sends your marriage certificate back separately from your new passport to give you a heart attack right before the holidays.
NCIDQ: You got married?! Totes cool. Just use the PIN we give you and weβll recognize that itβs you.
Whatβs an interior design trend you want to die?
Itβs not so much a trend... but a phrase. A phrase coined by realators and shoved down our throats by HGTV. A phrase than makes me want to punch a tree JAMMF style.
Open Concept Floor Plan
This... is not a thing in the design world. What this phrase is alluding to is a change in the first floor plan so that the main living spaces are open to one another rather than separated by walls as in more traditional style homes. This began with the Bungalow style in the early 1900s.
What this phrase is... is a fancy load of crap used by realators to sell houses and HGTV to sell their network. By saying so youβre alluding that a floor plan is conceptual, which itβs not. Itβs a design or construction drawing dictating the layout of the space and the location of walls, doors, windows, casework, fixtures, and furniture. A concept is a design vision.
You can have an open design concept. You can have an open floor plan. You cannot have an open concept floor plan.

One of the principals wanted to play designer, so he came up with this idea for a lobby/mail room thatβs really a bit bizarre. He also kept referring to a bar height table as a banquette (upholstered bench with a back).
So what do I do?
Create my own version of this floor plan utilizing a banquette and a bar height/multi purpose table. I just showed the project manager on the job without any explanation and she tapped my arm, laughing: βHeh. I see what you did there.β
Neurotically ironing towels, sheets, & other linens at my favorite job site. Ask box is open.
Itβs okay, electrical sub. Itβs not like ordering fixtures per the approved submittal is an industry standard or anything π
