Facts about Intergalactruce (Bones’ Cancelled Game)
During the second half of 2018, Bones announced their work in an original RPG game named “Intergalactruce”, it had a style similar to Undertale’s and it seemed to follow lore similar to the old Intergalactic Strife fighting game idea they had. Not a lot about the game itself ever got to see the light of day due to development crunch, extreme pressure from Bones combined with various unneeded mechanics for a game of its style.
A lot of people remained curious about what would have been of the game before it died and so here’s the answer from someone previously involved in its development in case anyone still wants to know random facts about the lore and the game itself. This is going to be long because I know more about this game than I wish I did, I might separate it into various parts if necessary or just answer asks about things anyone is still curious about.
1 - Introduction, The Quiz + The Guilds (and their lore)
The starting point of the game past the menu would be exposition to lore similar to Undertale’s intro, this tells the player about Rascal who is not only a lonely god creating everyone that gets sent into the universe, he is one of Bones’ self inserts. The introduction explains that shooting stars fall close to him every so often and from them souls can be created, asked various questions, determined the body they will inhabit and get sent off to the real world.
The game would then give you a Pokémon Mystery Dungeon like quiz with way more questions than it would need to have, by the end of it you would get yourself assigned with a specific guild from Robots, Animals, Monsters, Ghouls, Humans and Aliens and then followed by a few paragraphs trying to explain the kind of person you are. Those paragraphs are almost entirely Bones pointing out flaws of their friends that had created the leaders for each guild, the only exception being Ghouls who had maybe the longest and most positive description. You can guess which guild Bones was the leader of. (If you want a bonus fun fact, the most insulting description belonged to the Aliens, which was ran by Bones’ partner)
After way too much effort to get yourself a guild, you then choose one body out of 3 possible choices for each guild, write your own name and get sent off to the game. But of course, being created by who it was created, the first (and only) guild that had been worked on was Ghouls, the guild ran by The Countess, yet another of Bones’ self inserts.
Countess is more commonly known in the Intergalactruce universe as a being older than the gods and being the one who created every single guild in some way or another (for some reason?) I can barely make any sense of why she is everywhere and did everything, but the real answer is simple and it is “Being Bones’ Self Insert”
This is a whole lot, yeah? Countess named “Animals”
Countess developed the first ever human language (English) and invented the term “Homosapien” because... Why not.
Countess, a being almost as old as time, suddenly has a younger sister and nobody decided to ask why or how + She was born so differently from humans and animals that Countess simply created a new term to call her sister, and if that doesn’t already reek of slurs then simply see how poorly she treats the future (and younger) Monster Guild Leader.
Robots were created by Humans but they were not allowed to have an official guild until Countess gave them approval. This seems rather simple, maybe even logical judging that she created all the ones before, but trust me, it gets dumb again later.
Comes in the aliens.
Countess hooks up with an alien who was not even previously stated to be important, he was simply there and suddenly they had seven children. Feels important to point out R’lyeh was a self insert of Bones’ partner. He also randomly goes MIA along with her children and never returns (causing Countess to be bitter towards him for ages to come), the reason being that he for all that its worth went out into a business trip somewhere in space that causes time to move slower, he had been away for a week at most in his eyes, but years for the rest of the universe.
I can’t even begin to fathom why this comes out of nowhere, I wish luck to whoever tries to figure it out. Coming next is how the guild lore ends and a throwback to Countess having to give the seal of approval for every guild, her child(ren) that simply cannot recognize her due to now being a skeleton the same shape as their mother with a voice not much different and the same name as her for as far as it was explained, ask for her approval of the Alien Guild
Which makes no sense considering Countess might as well have been deemed dead from black hole mauling and looked so different one can only imagine why she still has such an authority over the guilds.
Tl;dr for this section: Everyone in the universe is created by Rascal (Bones) and put into guilds that were all founded by Countess (Bones).
Fun fact, Bones has 5 self inserts in this game: Dio, Rascal, Klart, Rebornica and Countess.
2 - Unnecessary Content Because Lore Is Too Long
Trust me, I will talk about more extremely complex lore from this game, but this post is already too long. Feel free to send specific asks if you are curious about anything specific and I will try my best to answer.
Incredibly Big Maps
This is one floor of the Ghoul Manor, there are 6 total guilds with way more than this.
Too many player characters, no variety.
3 possible characters for each of the 6 guilds meaning there were 18 total characters with basically no difference between them mechanic wise and the only difference lore wise is their prologue taking place in their respective guild. (Bones also purposefully rewrote prologues by their other writers in development to be exactly the same format, so it wouldn’t be any more interesting)
The Buddy Book + The Calendar
In theory, the Buddy Book was a good idea as it’d be basically a catalog of NPCs you encountered with the added bonus of being a cute photo album with friends you’d make along the way the more you interacted as the story went, but eventually it became an almost dating simulator mechanic that required actually building your friendship and trust with NPCs by doing Many very useless and very specific tasks for them
The second useless book is the calendar, since it was meant to work as a fully-working real life calendar and meant the game could span over an year if you just kept making your character sleep. It also connected with specific events such as taking part of guild specific holidays (A whole different can of worms, that‘d require making separate versions for all the already-too-many areas of the game for each holiday) and your character’s 21st birthday forward.
The Motivation Meter
I said your character could sleep, there is a reason why: The motivation meter is the kind of mechanic you should see in Stardew Valley but absolutely not in Undertale, you’d only have so much you could do in a day before your character got too tired and unmotivated to keep going during the day and would either have to sleep or do activities and minigames halfway through the plot just to recover points necessary to do a task.
Tl;dr for this section: Bones couldn’t be a game designer even if they were the last one on earth.

Hello, i used to "work" with Bones on intergalactruce, i won't detail what i did and such, but what i will say is that they confirmed the game was a response to Undertale, they wanted to make a better genocide route, because they felt like UT did not do it interesting enough, for example: there was meant to be a brutal moment where you kill a characters child and pet fox, to make the player feel bad. I felt weird about it but went along with it because well, it was Bones.
i went to confirm with a couple ex members from the team, and there is some vague mention `of this. the characters in question are Michael, Faith, and their fox. No confirmation on Faith specifically, but yes to the fox.
I do know for sure that Reb had also planned an actual genocide route, which was quickly scrapped.

in the 2018-early 2020 game development time for Intergalactruce, only about 5 minutes of gameplay was ever made!
bones didn’t quite understand that their coders had lives outside of them. bones couldn’t concept the idea of anyone on the team doing anything other than intergalactuce. if you didn’t help out for even like a DAY (kind of an exaggeration) they wouldn’t want you on the team
