Roast-beef plant. It's a wild iris with a crazy name. Iris foetidissima doesn't smell as fetid as its Latin name would have you believe, but if you rip up a leaf, you can get a whiff of someting kind of beefy. I totally smell beefy stock cube. Common names include stinking iris, gladdon, Gladwin iris, and stinking gladwin. Native to most of western Europe, Ireland, England, France, Italy, Greece, Spain and down to N.
