it there was anything to be learned from the latest mission it was that Go had to brush up on her defense skills. as the superhero, Cusp, and while enclosed in the Sector HQ building, she was limited by her abilities. she was dead weight, and it didn’t take long in the mission for her to realize it. she battled with herself. she was held back by cowardice. and she nearly lost the fight, having scraped by with the courageous nature of the other. it’d still baffled her— her experiences. it still felt like a dream— a nightmare looming over her head, cloudy and threatening.
while she tried her best to stay strong, she knew the fight wasn’t over.
and while fear had previously held her back, she’d witnessed not only one but two successes in the retrieval of the captives. she was, for lack of better words, decorated, and she was realizing that she was a noble soldier of the war. she still had trouble coming to grips with that idea.
But she had to learn quickly. and despite how soon her next mission would be she was sure to text as many partners as she could for a training match. she had to get better. she had to learn how to defend herself. she had to fight for those who couldn’t fight for themselves.
of all of them––
@chxoticpulse ||⚔☔💅🏻 they were right when they said we should never meet our heroes
––was surely the one she could trust to help her. after all those ping-pong matches she’d won had to have gathered some sort of fight in him. he wouldn’t be one to hold his punches, not after all the winning she’d done, and should he try, she knew he could take her combat.
she presented a defensive block, with all her might as he moved offensively. the sweat bead dripping down her ears were evidence that she was working hard. and despite the cloudy overcast, she moved again to dodge another swing, her concentration a little off, as she lost her footing. her heels bouncing at the request—
“Again! Don’t hold back! I can do it!”
