downtown wasn't the best place to be. that was Go's opinion. it always seemed so busy with the streets filled with people. the movements in their strides weren't something the girl could ever keep up with. she liked doing things her own way at her own pace in her own space. not crowded, not having to worry about bumping into people, not having to be so apologetic when she bumped into others while her head remained high in the sky.
any time she tried to reach a specific place at a specific time, the girl always forgot about the whole traffic thing. when you take the subway everywhere, and when you live in such a technological town, there are aps that tell you when the public transport picks you up and what time you are expected to arrive. seems simple enough. seems very reliant. seems safe. however, when you spend a lot of your time on your phone the entire day, then listen to music on the subway, you tend to realize at the worst of times when you're battery is already at 50%. You tend to play the airplane mode: on and airplane mode: off is if you are gambling with time and chance at a casino. it's not at all hard to lose track of time, and it's also hard to determine which stop you are supposed to take with your phone being so useless. and yes, there are maps that are supposed to be supplied on a subway, but there is a paperless initiative that you tend to forget about having just moved to the place three months ago.
so she got off on the wrong spot. she found herself a bit lost. she didn't know the time, but the moment she saw the storefront hang overhead, against the sunsetting she immediately sighed in defeat. CLOSED-- the sign read. and to think she had traveled all this way for a simple bouquet of flowers to spruce up her apartment, she frowned, and let her head hang low and spun around-- since she'd have to walk in the direction she came to get back to the subway.
as luck would have it-- there was a person directly behind her when she did so. the two of them collided instantly, and it scared Go more than anything, but her reflexes worked in her favor-- or perhaps not, as the first thing her arms did were to reach out and grab the girl in front of her to hold on for stability. she was rather speechless, so a gasp is all that fell from her lips.
