#interactions: fred

fred didn’t know how to be ready for these interactions, and this was only his third-ish one. fully aware of his death now and still getting a grasp on the grief that he had caused everyone, fred had no idea how to prepare for it. but he couldn’t avoid them altogether, that wasn’t what he wanted at all. he wanted to be with his people again, fred just- didn’t want to acknowledge what had happened to him, if that was possible (it wouldn’t be). “granger-,” he gave a small wince, surely someone had told her, right? “-looking as- dashing and riveting as ever.” he then realized that, no, his (first) resurrection may not be common knowledge yet. merlin, this was something else. “i meant me, but you’re looking well yourself too.” 

he’d wandered around dc for most of the day. it was now dark out, and fred, after stopping for a hot dog, was now pretty sure that he would need to come up with some cohesive plan in attempting to find his family, if they were even here. wandering around everyday, without any sort of strategy was bound to leave him- and that was when he saw her. his stupid, and brilliant, little sister. ‘hey! ginny!” he reacted, picking up his pace toward her. not exactly thinking through how seeing her once dead brother, now yelling at her on the street, would make her feel. maybe she didn’t remember the part about him dying- because fred didn’t remember anything at all until the other day, and he had been here for years. so it wasn’t too far fetched of an idea that ginny may not remember his death, or him at all. 

“mum?” except she didn’t look like the mother the fred remembered. she was young, and he had seen her before. looking back on it, that had just been mere moments before his death. he’d thought she was a crazy person- as upset she had been. if only he had had more empathy then- but he wasn’t himself. he’d had to leave kate behind because he wasn’t himself. if things hadn’t of been chaotic as they had been- he would have listened, he told himself. “did you discover the fountain of youth in my absence?” he asked, in his ongoing efforts to soften to blow of his own death to those who loved him, and had probably missed him at some point. maybe she wouldn’t remember period, fred wondered if that would be the best case scenario. 

“so-,” he had plenty that he wanted to bring up. but since getting his memories back- fred had done his best to avoid talking about it. or how life had continued on after it. he avoided the conversations that life had gone on without him because it hurt. he was happy that life went on, and that his family found happiness, in their careers, in their relationships, in their own families, it just- was shit that he didn’t get to be there for it. “what do you do after work? how have i been here for at least three years yet we’ve never managed to run into one another? is it possible that you thought that i was george- and therefore chose to avoid me purposefully?”

but someday she wouldn’t- why was that the first place his brain went? maybe he just wasn’t cut out for this whole uncle thing. but it was the somehow of it all that maybe bothered him, what else had she had to survive in her past? he knew the wizarding world hadn’t gone back downhill after his death, from what he knew, at least. “being here though, seems swell, you think?”

“woahhh-,” fred’s just another night out was now looking more abnormal- and more like himself. the other man looked- just like him. fred had heard about things like this happening- but he had never thought much of it. it certainly wasn’t something that would happen to him, until it was. right now. “s’like looking in a mirror. only, i’d say i’m better looking.”
