It wasn’t talked about very often, but most mermaids had a sixth sense and often saw ghosts surrounding the oceans. They often came there because they died there, were dumped there or that’s where they found the most peace. Harper has met many in his lifetime, some friendly...some not so much. Often they were just terrified of other beings, making him assume that they were treated badly. He didn’t like to pester the dead, knowing that only led to bad things and honestly he wished they rested peacefully.Â
But out of all his interactions with the undead, his and Jaewoo’s were the oddest. He could feel that Jaewoo wasn’t the typical ghosts, one of obvious the facts that he’s not an apparition, but very human-like. Not only was his appearance very alive, but so was his personality. As said earlier though, he didn’t like to ask questions that weren’t his business and liked the other’s company when he decided to visit him.
Today was one of those days that Jaewoo showed up at his usual dock. Harper popped his head out a bit when he heard footsteps from above, usually he could tell from the step pattern if it was a stranger or his friend. “Oh hi!” He grinned. “I found you two things this time.” Whenever he decided to visit, Harper would have an item for the other. Often he’d search the depths for things to sell at his family’s shop, but often gave Jaewoo the interesting things they couldn’t sell. “I found an old ring...I don’t know if it’s worth much...It’s kind of rusted.” He chuckled a bit. “And I found a chipped shark tooth.” He placed the items on the deck in front of his friend’s feet. // @thecosmicsen
