Cooking the Books on ISIS
At least 50 analystsĀ who gave their evaluation of the war against ISIS had their information twisted into talk of āwinningā by senior military officials.
More than 50 intelligence analysts working out of the U.S. militaryās Central Command have formally complained that their reports on ISIS and al Qaedaās branch in Syria were being inappropriately altered by senior officials, The Daily Beast has learned.
The complaints spurred the Pentagonās inspector general to open an investigation into the alleged manipulation of intelligence. The fact that so many people complained suggests there are deep-rooted, systemic problems in how the U.S. military command charged with the war against the self-proclaimed Islamic State assesses intelligence.

When all of the news coming out of the Middle East about what was happening with ISIS and even Al-Qaeda showed advances, and airstrikes being largely ineffective, the military was shoving the narrative that we were winning. Something was wrong with that scenario somewhere.
It was akin to Iraqās Press minister Tariq Aziz saying that the United States wasnāt in Iraq while AmericanĀ bombs could be seen dropping in the background. Itās that stupid.
Two of the analystsĀ signedĀ a written complaint to CENTCOM, alleging that their reports were changed to show that ISIS was weaker than they really are. The reports were changed to fall in line with Obamaās public policy rather than reality.
The complaint was supported by 50 intelligence analysts, 11 of whom spoke to the Daily Beast. The whistleblowers believe their reports were being āmanipulatedā to fit the narrative that benefited theĀ President. Many of them are employed by theĀ Defense Intelligence Agency, but are attached to CENTCOM.
The analysts have a pessimistic view of how the fight against ISIS and Al-Nusra is actually progressing. They have also claimed that the atmosphere at CENTCOM has become āunprofessional,ā and has kept them from giving their honest assessment of the facts.
This situation is not surprising, given the way this administration runs its agenda. The question isā¦will anyone do anything about it?
