An Experiment - Imagine that you have a personal assistant. Whether you like it or not, this assistant is always with you. They have been assigned specifically to you. As they follow you around all day, every day, they jot down your every command. They are recording everything you think and say and especially everything you feel. They bring to you what you have commanded. For instance, if you feel you have abundance, they will supply you with abundance. If you believe you are lacking, they will supply lack. I suggested you change your thoughts and feelings. Instead of wandering around feeling the experience of lack and longing, change your state of being and imagine how it would feel to have your desire. How differently would you behave? How would you dress? Imagine how it would feel to know your desire was waiting for you at the end of the day. Be very specific. It won’t take long to conjure what you desire.

POSTMODERN DECONSTRUCTION, IT HAS FINALLY BEEN REALIZED,LEADS PRECISELY AND INEVITABLY TO NIHILISM: THERE IS NO GENUINE MEANING ANYWHERE, ONLY NESTED DECEPTIONS. AND THIS LEAVES, IN THE PLACE OF ART AS SINCERE STATEMENT, ART AS ANARCHY, ANCHORED ONLY IN EGOIC WHIM AND NARCISSISTIC DISPLAY. INTO THE VACUUM CREATED BY THE IMPLOSION THAT IS SO MUCH OF POSTMODERNISM, RUSHES THE EGO TRIUMPHANT. MEANING IS CONTEXT-DEPENDENT, AND CONTEXTS ARE BOUNDLESS, AND THAT LEAVES ART AND ARTIST AND CRITIC ALIKE LOST IN APERSPECTIVAL SPACE, RULED ONLY BY THE PURR OF THE SELF-CENTRIC ENGINE LEFT DRIVING THE ENTIRE DISPLAY.
With the death of the avant-garde and the triumph of irony, art seems to have nothing sincere to say. Narcissism and nihilism battle for a center stage that isn't even there; kitsch and camp crawl all over each other in a fight for a representation that no longer matters anyway; there seems to arise only the egoic inclination of artist and critic alike, caught in halls of self-reflecting mirrors, admiring their image in a world that once cared.

As this is an ongoing public research/could be dialogue... this is just a thought that arose. Â I contemplated for a bit, and hope to sit down to express a broader idea.
The Integral community (myself included) is obsessed with the question What is Integral Art?. Â I had this vision-thought that Integral Art isn't here yet, but the aspiration to create it is. Â If anything, it is in its very infantile stages. Â
Before I write about this more, I'd like to read again Wilber's thoughts, as well as others in the community. Â
What could Integral Art Be/What are the social and cultural constructs that will give rise to an Integral Art?:
The thing fully arises, and then we know that IT is here, and what IT is. We'll know it, without question. Â
One of the key ideas I had, was that it is not only the individual's level of development that defines the Integral Artist and their art, it is also the system they operate in. Â Along with the financial collapse, art became Blue Chip, the Gallery is deeply entwined with the current economic system due to, of all things, the real estate values in major cities... among other things. Â
-Individuals as artist are bound to a Social Contract, to what degree they abide by it, or if they choose to at all, makes all the difference in authentic work. Â
-Art has to rebel against something, in order to experience 'newness'; to go some place new—to be unbridled.  As much as abstract work became through the process of engaging with the subject of Spirit in Art, when the art world eschewed that dialogue for many decades.  In that sense, I think "Integral Art" will have to unhinge itself from, obviously, self-importance, as well as the major confines of capitalism.  And for the art to do that, it's creator must do that act first.  It will take a high degree of moral integrity for this to happen.
