⛑🤔⛑⛑⛑⛑⛑Someone threw their last bit of change into his bucket. Once again, he was on the street corner begging for change. He was desperate, he was hungry, and addicted. He was hard enough on himself and all he could do was look down as the last bit of his dignity was tossed into the bucket by a stranger who looked away. Then something happened. A breeze suddenly blew two leaves in his direction. He was fascinated how they simply danced around in the wind as if they were made to lift his spirit. He smiled and watched them blow away, and he wondered why the charm of change was just that, charming. The rest of his day, he smiled. Even the most "unfortunate" of us are caught in the charm of change. This morning my daughter went to her first day of preschool, and despite my amazement of how it all goes so fast, I was so grateful for her and her new adventures. The charm of change struck me as well. A few days ago, I saw this guy on YouTube that claimed his toast had the imprint of an angel in the center. He said that he was making breakfast just like any other day, two eggs and two pieces of bread, but when he pulled the whole wheat out of the toaster, to his amazement, the angel was there. Many people were convinced that it was real. 👇👇👇 Now I don’t know about all that, but I was reminded of this because I looked up from the public bathroom stall, and saw this cascaded in graffiti: Are you seeking something greater than yourself to improve yourself? 👇👇👇 On that same day, black smoke surrounded me and I was closer to death than ever before. I was scared and I had a deep sense of loneliness and isolation. All of a sudden, this man came out of nowhere, grabbed me by my collar and dragged me up the subway stairs, and into the sunshine once again. 👇 I wanted to thank him. He asked me if I was ok and then ran back into the smoke. He had rescued many of us that day, but no one could find him. No one saw his face and some believed that he was an angel, while others believed he simply was a good guy doing the right thing. No matter, because today I’m a better person. I’m more grateful, more open to the mysterious, and I seek the betterment of others before myself. That day, I truly was dragged into the sunshine and I see a greater light than ever. Seeking the spiritual can mean a lot of things to a lot of people, and in the respect of trying to seek better understanding, maybe we should listen. Mental health and the spiritual are compatible and I welcome it.
