Besides this looking like a coastal aviation advert π€π this popped up on my Google photos as a reminder of how I spent part of my trip to Zanzibar . It was Eid and although I usually spend it with family, I spent it alone trotting around the island. The whole of stone town flooded with children all very cheerful. I found the only shop open, it was a sweet shop with a young man late 30s and his father possibly 70s sitting outside it in the heat. I asked him why he's open. He said he's only made $10 or so in the past month and it was his only time to make up for his losses as it's Eid and kids buy sweets. I decided to buy his shop (the stuff in it... all of it) so he can close for the weekend and take his father home and his 6 kids out for Eid. I told every child to take whatever he/she wanted, as they called more kids and more kids and more!!!! As I walked away i looked at the young man closing his shop as he kissed the money I gave him, and gestured with his hands thanking God, holding his father by the arm and walking him away. I on the other hand flooded in tears, as the kids passed me, high 5ing me, some hugged me, some said thank you.
