four favorite first watches of august :)
calmly telling my worried father I wasn’t watching a horror movie because “the dad from mamma mia was there”
Hilary Swank in Insomnia (2002).
It's unusual to come across a remake that's more interesting than the original (a Scandinavian movie from 1997). Hilary Swank's Ellie is very sweet, naively hero-worshipping Al Pacino's Will Dormer, a bit like Lenina Huxley with John Spartan in Demolition Man, but at the same time she's very capable and honourable.

I wish I had taken more screenshots, but I specifically took these threw out the film, because as it gets closer to the end his face becomes more withered, his eyes are redder - you can see in his eyes the hate he has for himself for the actions he has done, the guilt literally eating him, and I would love to rewatch this film, but first I shall watch the Pacino one!
