The InSinkErator Evolution Essential 3/4 HP is a garbage disposal that fits the widest range of customer needs. Having had the opportunity to test this garbage disposal, I can do nothing but agree. The Evolution Essential is indeed a great all-around disposer that exceeded my expectations on almost every level. It crushed everything I fed it with ease, including larger bones and fibrous vegetables. However, the best part – and what got me all excited – was definitely that it did so without making a lot of noise.

If you’ve read my review of InSinkErator Evolution Compact, you already know that these two disposers share a lot in common. In fact, they are basically built with the same components. My general recommendation is for you to choose the Evolution Essential unless you have limited cabinet space and literally can’t fit the Evolution Essential under your sink. Why? Because the Evolution Essential is a little bit more quiet and comes with a longer warranty. The Evolution Essential is powered by a 3/4 HP Dura Drive® induction motor. According to the manufacturer, the Dura Drive® induction motor is optimized for appliances as it provides quiet operation and long life. Although probably true, such statements are best taken with a pinch of salt. However, what can be said with certainty is that the Evolution Essential is powerful enough to get the job done.

The Evolution Essential uses InSinkErator’s patented Multigrind® technology, meaning that the food waste is ground not once, but twice. If you haven’t experienced it yourself, I can assure you that second grind stage makes a huge difference and it’s also one of the things that I like the most about the garbage disposals in the Evolution Series. If you haven’t seen the Multigrind® technology in action, have a look at this video. Please note that the video demonstrates the Evolution Excel, which uses three grind stages and not two.

So why is a second grind stage such a big deal? It’s simple – it greatly reduces the risk of unwanted clogs and jams.

The Evolution Essential uses InSinkErator’s innovative Soundseal® technology in order to reduce noise and vibrations. According to InSinkErator’s internal sound level scale, the Evolution Essential is considered as “quieter”. It can be read on InSinkErator’s website that “quieter” means that you can hold a conversation with elevated voices in the same room. To be completely honest, I actually think that is an understatement from the manufacturer. In fact, I feel absolutely no need to elevate my voice when the Evolution Essential is running in the background. But as always – don’t take my word for it. Instead, read a few customer reviews and find out why other customers are “amazed at how quiet it is”.

Just like every other garbage disposal from InSinkErator, the Evolution Essential is mounted using InSinkErator’s patented Quick Lock® mount system. This allows for a very smooth and quick installation. You simply twist off your old garbage disposal and twist on the new one.
