Caroline spent time all around the country the moment her daughters turned eighteen. She visited often though bringing back gifts for everyone.  Landon and Hope got included in on the gifts that were given but then suddenly things changed when her daughter told her that Hope asked her to marry her.  One minute the three of them are planning a beautiful Mikaelson style service and Caroline is stuck playing phone tag with Rebekah because she MUST be involved in this as well to Lizzie calling her crying saying that it was over.  Things got even more complicated when four weeks later the news hits that there is a child coming into the mix.  The first thing Caroline had done?  Was tell Lizzie to come to her,  that they could eat ice cream in a hotel room and bitch about relationships.  Her daughter stuck out a relationship though in the end,  making a fast wedding come together with a tribrid that Caroline had grown to dislike for a short time.

Momma bear within sparks and the fact that the tribrid had been the reason her daughter was shattered had given her the reason to be solely on Lizzie’s side.  Well,  once again everything changes when the first child is placed in her arms and she sees the green eyes of a guy that she knew of.  An ex-boyfriend that wasn’t there in that room.  A tired tribrid that barely could contain her pride and a siphoner that was so in love with that baby that Caroline also felt the love.  Her anger for what happened vanishes within and things go on until her daughter tells Caroline over a skype call that she was expecting.  Caroline had been wrong when she had sworn love to the Nikolette Asta Saltzman-Mikaelson because the love that she felt for Andrea Elizabeth Saltzman-Mikaelson had been a different level and GRANDMA was a very proud title that she had now more than before.

Time goes on and things are calm and the vampire moves to New Orleans to be closer to her grandchildren.  Ric died years ago and no one talks about it so there needed to be a new school and the Mikaelson family throws everything into a truly safe place for creatures of all kind.  Caroline teaches health class from sex ed,  mental health,  and then add in the supernatural health.  She loves every moment of it because it was hers and she can do almost anything with it within reason. It is a simple day when her blonde haired granddaughter comes in and sits down with her lunch and starts to eat. The question about being important falls from Beth’s lips so softly that a human might miss it but in a silent room where Caroline is just grading papers nothing is missed.

Her heartaches as she tosses her red pen down  (She has had enough of grading diagrams anyway) and finds her footing,  the swivel chair pushes back as she raises and hits the back of the wall and Caroline doesn’t even flinch.  Her granddaughter was like a miniature version of herself back in her human years.  Insecure beyond belief and nothing can help it because if you don’t believe it?  No one else saying otherwise is going to really change it.
