Alice smiled at her feet, cheeks all ablush, holding in her hands, a blue wrapped present, and a bag on her arm. "Hatter.." She began, "I've got your presents." She smiled at him now, holding out the heavy thing, "It's- it's.. Open it." The first present, was a leather bound edition of Alice in Wonderland, one that was really rather old, and had beautifully drawn pictures and golden writing on the front. She nudged it toward him, stepping on her toes to kiss his nose, "Merry Christmas, love."
"A-Alice, you shouldn’t have, I…" Jervis could help but gape, as he tore away the bright wrapping paper, lifting the book free, "Oh my goodness!" he exclaimed, his hands trembling, "It-it’s beautiful—" he paused, as she kissed his nose, a blush spread over his face, "Thank you. It’s perfect, I love it…" his eyes sparkled with shy hope, "You’ll let me read it to you, won’t you? Oh, pleɐse let me read it to you…"
