I guess in retrospect in starts kinda slow but it did not feel like it while I was reading so I do not think it is a problem

It is way more text heavy that one would think of a comic but I am into that so I do not care although I can see how it might be a bit tedious sometimes in long conversations with a lot of information

The art is really fucking cool starting from like act 3 or something like genuinely kinda awesome stuff. The flash animations are really good because of this and the music which also goes really hard

I guess one of the things Homestuck is how it uses different mediums like comic pages and animations and music and video games but I think the final stretch of act 5 is where it gets really interesting with its medium genuinely so fucking good

The comic is also funny as fuck like I actually find it really entertaining you can see how a lot of that humor is replicated in videogames and shit that came out after it too alongside with many ideas the story has

I think the main thing about Homestuck are like the characters. Character interactions are always really fun to read. It has a lot of good ways to show characterisation with like rooms, silladexes, the way characters talk and other shit. And also I think they are the most interesting part of the story they are fun to think about

The whole Sburb thing is also really cool it is basically a real life videogame that the story revolves around and it is cool to learn its mechanics and see how characters interact with them how some play along with it and how some cheat their through it or just do not care or break it down to learn everything about it it is also cool how a lot of those mechanics are not really delved into because it is not important to the plot

I guess the plot is technically complicated but I really do not have much trouble understanding it. Lots of stable time travel bullshit but I think it is fun to follow

A lot of people say it is a product of its time or whatever and it is usually in regards to whatever bigotry it may contain and like yeah it is your usual 2009 bigotry but I think I would also use it in regards to the era of the internet it portrays got a lot of stuff like movies and I have never watched and some brands that might be either old or US stuff like what the hell is faygo and internet subcultures that where big at the time I do not think it really worsens the experience though in most cases it does not really matter to me or maybe even makes it better. There is some stuff with like famous people who we now know have done some really bad shit but where funny back then I would really like it if they stopped talking about the Bill Cosby laptop

Also yeah the comic has some bigotry in it. Not as many slurs as you may be lead to believe but it does have many mostly just the r slur there are some racist ones too like the title of one of Toby Fox's songs. In general I would say racism might be the main thing there is some weird shit around mostly about black people but it has been less common later on. There is also a lot of ableism starting on act 5 but it is actually relevant to the story. They also say fag once but it was really funny so who cares
