I know I am gonna get a lot of slack for this but it must be said.And I'll say it as long as I'm pro life!Abortion is murder simple as that,it's ending a life on purpose.An innocent valuable life...We as society are basically using abortion as birth control.Tv, movies,our physicians say it and even our friends say it's okay to consider abortion if the pregnancy doesn't fit into our current situation(for rape especially)and once the pregnancy test reads positive and the panic sets in there's only one option it seems.Terminate.I get it having a kid can be scary especially at a young age and not every woman wants to be a mother but there are other options other than abortion. Having a baby ripped out of your uterus isn't gonna solve the problem.It won't go away after you go home and move on with your life.The fact is there are countless women who can't have a child but really want to be a mother more than anything and have been trying for years to get pregnant.Going through IVF,surrogate,you name it to have a family of their own.Why is abortion the first thought or option a woman considers faced with an unplanned pregnancy?How many waiting mothers with empty wombs are the answer to the problem but still abortion is the one choice that makes sense?Human life no matter how young (6 weeks,6 days, 6 months)deserves a chance at life,unborn babies are innocent and precious and shouldn't be punished for how they came into the world.

Barefoot Gen hits me hard, especially the animation that really pulled me into the chaos of that moment. The most powerful scene is when the bomb drops and we see the horrific aftermath. The colors in that scene are so striking. Before the blast, everything is full of life, but then, as the explosion tears through the city, the colors brighten to show how everyone’s bodies’ must’ve been during the bomb, turning every peice of skin on their bodies red. The aftermath of the bomb also has things get really intense. The show doesn't hold back when showing the radiation’s effect, people’s bodies deteriorating in real time. It’s not something we’ve seen up close, and that’s what makes this scene so powerful. The bomb dropped so quickly that we never had time to fully understand the long-term impact, but this scene gives us a glimpse of it in a way that words can’t fully capture.
But the movie isn’t just about devastation. There’s this underlying message of hope and rebuilding. After everything falls apart, we see how quickly people tried to piece their lives back together. One thing that stands out is how Gen’s hair grows back after the bombing. It seems simple, but it’s such a strong symbol. His hair growing back represents the reconstruction efforts happening around him. It’s like the community’s resilience, showing that even after the most catastrophic loss, people find a way to heal and rebuild. It’s a reminder that life moves on, and the human spirit is forced to be tough even after the darkest moments.
