Man, if my household didn't have neurodivergent brains & jobs to contend with, these animals would already do so many things. đ They're so easy to train.
Jack did Addy's monthly Adequan shot & I wish I'd gotten a video. She gets 3/4 of a hot dog as her jackpot reward for cooperating with it. Jack shows her the hot dog, shows her the syringe, and asks her to come over. She went over and sat (a couple feet from him, still a little reluctant đ), he leaned forward and did the shot into her neck ruff while she sat calmly, then she got her hot dog. She's getting calmer every time since he started this.
Meanwhile I come back out of my room a bit later and Phoebe's sitting on the speaker where we do inhaler training, looking at me expectantly. đ So we did a short session - she's currently working on learning to let me hold a hand to the back of her head while pushing the mask a little more firmly to her face. It's our next step up from just putting her face into the mask. She's not a fan, but she seems to be realizing she gets bigger treats for this, and I got a full second hold without her putting a paw up to push it away, which was good.
I still have so many cooperative care things I want to work on with them, but we've made really good progress so far on the most important ones that we have to do most frequently. I'm happy about that, at least.
