she’s finally done it. she’s worn him down to the point where he’s joined her in her late night existential crises, rather than having his own, all by himself, and pretending that he isn’t -- when it’s obvious he’s been brooding all through the night instead of actually keeping watch. it’s a... well, maybe not a favorite pastime, for the bard, but it’s something to do; something she finds hard not to do when she’s lying there and staring up at the open sky. there’s something about a seemingly endless expanse of glittering souls burning in the darkness that gives way to deep, twisting, confusing thought. but when the beast finally speaks in that low rumble she’s gotten so used to, she doesn’t find herself very comforted by the words. the gears turning in her head don’t lead her to any very nice conclusions.
slowly, she shifts onto her side, props herself up slightly on an elbow. gaze seeks him out in the dim moonlight; there’s no detail to his silhouette, so whatever expression he wears must be conjured in her imagination for now. she doesn’t think it’s a good one. “ ... you won’t be like this forever. we’re going to break this curse. i swear. ” she can’t even imagine how much thought he must have given to ETERNITY since being placed under this spell for eternity. but the realization that it’s enough to truly unsettle him makes her want to commit herself to this cause all over again -- search just that much harder for a way to break it. she’s going to keep that promise, if it kills her.
