Brisingr makes me hateful
After spending the last year learning about writing, it pains me to read Brisingr. I love it, I mean fucking brisingr I have a fire-sword, what of it? But so many sentences are packed with useless description, forced emotion and cliche. Every character feels something and then has a little monologue explaining it. Not everything has to be likened to how a stream meets a boulder and must divide but will erode the bricks out of it. OhMyGod. It sometimes makes me mad to read it.
He's also a big fan of obvious plot devices. What's this? She can turn herself into a human to go un-noticed and you have big ring full of power on your little hand. Just heal yourself at every turn - dats cool, being mortal is for chumps.
It's fantasy to the tee, it abuses everything little thing about it. I will buy the new book, because let's face it, I want to find out who the Green Rider is and see some Galbatorix ass-whooping. But Paolini never stopped writing like a teenager.
