"[33] What are one of their fondest and most treasured memories?"
Clementine and Erie's a little obvious,,, But when they met eachother!! Ofc,,,,first meeting wasnt the greatest when one was kinda covered in bloodâ but this is the happiest either has been!! Clementine already has many good times , but she never felt anymore comfortable with someone other than Erie. And for Erie , Clementine is the only person that understands her struggles and pains even though she couldn't have experienced it herself.,
Brute's happiest moment is also fairly recent (in their little story timeline) but it's when they became friends with Whistle â a little alien girl they were in charge of. Since Brute is pretty much disliked by everyone in the facility they guard , she's the only one who actually considers them as a friend,,
Jone really misses when he was memorable and a perfect kid. Since his parents had another kid and they had pretty busy jobs , Jone never got much attention. But during these times he made friends and was pretty popular,,,until he was just sort of forgotten and became a "typical guy" (gifted kid struggle đ/hj)
Randall's most treasured moment was when his father was still around , he wasn't necessarily the closest, but they had a good bond. Everything was still calm, normalâ at least for himâ when his father was there.
"[15] How do they act around people they don't like?"
It takes quite a bit to make Jone mad â and once he is, he's petty. Jone won't say anything about it to the person's face, but he holds a hard grudge and mostly gets back with a couple of "accidental" jabs either verbally or physically. Usually his annoyance is noticeable in his tone of voice or when he bounces his leg,
Erie just kinda,,,,stares at people she dislikes, not that she could say anything really. It really depends on who it is when her annoyance gets to a boiling pointâ either ignoring them entirely or threatening them violently .
Brute is pretty much programmed to threaten people when they get too upsetâ both through learned spoiled behavior and the genuine nature they were created with. They like to tease and make fun of those they dislike .cOf course, though, if someone of high authority told them to stop , they would (begrudgingly). They don't really like anyone at the lab.
Clementine is also pretty direct. If she dislikes someone, she'll make it known. She wouldn't really harm anyone though if it wasn't bad. She usually goes for ignoring the person and insulting them .
Randall also takes that approach,,,,,a little more rudely and blunt though. It kinda depends on who he's around but it's usually the same except if it's who hired him . He doesn't like to start fights â even though he's been through more than many .
Why you shouldnât joke about Ed Crowder. (An unfortunate rant)
I wonât be sharing the persons username, please donât share it if you know it but I just wanted to talk about it since although it may have been like 90 years ago but itâs still an issue that is very relevant now.
Key:
Purple = Info Source
Blue = Wikipedia Page
All mentions to the musical are referring to the uk versions (Tour/West End) unless specified
Before I actually start I just want to put out there that I talk about SA, Abuse and violence in general in this post.
This post also isnât me defending the gangs actions, iâve spoken about this before and people have told me iâm apparently defending them when that is not the purpose, this is simply just to educate people of what happened to these VERY REAL PEOPLE. Not just musical characters.
Who was Ed Crowder?
Ed Crowder was initially serving a sentence for Bank Robbery up to 99 years and was also believed to have been behind a prison break at Ferguson State Farm where 35 convicts had escaped. As of June 26 1927, 23 convicts had been recaptured and a guard called Will Ruder (if i read it correctly) was killed during the prison break. On May 6 1929, Crowder and another inmate had escaped from solitary confinement but ultimately was recaptured. Here are two articles taking about the events.
Ed Crowderâs name is only said twice in the musical and it is never said what exactly he did to Clyde however, if you watch the UK Tour version, after Clyde receives his sentence to Eastham State Penitentiary/Farm you can see him push his head in between two of the cell bars and then a man approaches him from behind. This man is most likely Crowder judging by how Clyde literally screams after. In West End, you donât physically see him screaming or see Ed but you can hear him screaming during the blackout before Raise a Little Hell.
What did Crowder do to Clyde in Prison??
Ed Crowder used to prey on Clyde. Quite literally. Barrow was quite small his entire life, according to William Daniel âW.Dâ Jones, âhe was only about 5 feet, six inches tall and he weighed no more than 135 pounds.â Itâs believed that Clyde was between 125-135 pounds. Crowder on the other hand was 6 foot and weighed 200 pounds. For most of Clydeâs time in the prison, Crowder had harassed him. Barrow was s3xually assulted and beat by Crowder and possibly other inmates.
Despite Barrow reporting it to the guards several times, nothing was ever done about it. considering it was around sometime around 1930-1931 when this was happening to him, incidents like this in prisons were incredibly common. Guards simply didnât see any point in doing anything. Most of the guards were amused at how Barrow was being tormented. Some guards even joining with beating him.
Ralph Fults, a member of the Barrow Gang who was also at Eastham at the time, claimed he watched barrow âchange from a schoolboy to a rattlesnakeâ.
Alongside not being helped by the people who were meant to be the good guys in situations like this, Barrow also was teased by other inmates. One example of someone who teased him was Wade Hampton McNabb, an Inmate Building Tender in Eastham Building 1. He was in was the same building as Clyde, despite Barrow not hearing what was being said at the time it was a motive for something the Barrow Gang did around 3 years and 2 months later which Iâll come back to.
Raise a Little Hell
The song Raise a Little Hell takes place on October 29/30th 1931 (the wording of the news report confused me so iâm not exactly sure) and is about Clydeâs plan to end the abuse he is being subjected to in prision. Towards the end of the song, Barrow completes the murder by (although it isnât exactly said itâs pretty obvious) beating and crushing Crowderâs skull with a Lead Pipe.
Top two gifs by @dontyouknowemma-itsyou ! Bottom gif by @noxexistant
Note about continuity: Although in the Proshot it shows that Clyde got the pipe from his bed, in the West End/UK tour version, he is shown to get the pipe from another inmate. Clyde actually got the pipe on his way back inside from the outside work they were made to do in the prison and hid it in his trousers.
Although, yes, Clyde did kill him, another inmate called Aubrey Scalley took the blame for the murder. The article about Crowderâs death mentions he was stabbed 15 times, Scalley was the one who stabbed him.
âOne of the men left his bunk and went back to the rear part of the buildingâ refers to Clyde. Apparently he somehow lured Crowder to the area and thatâs how it all went down.
For reference, hereâs a picture of Eastham Building 1 (1930). The murder happened just behind the furthest pillar.
Wade Hampton McNabb
This is a separate murder from Crowder. It happened on April 3rd 1934, 50 days before Bonnie & Clyde were ambushed and killed.
During Clydeâs time at Eastham, McNabb would call him his âPrison Wifeâ without him knowing. Not much longer than two years after his early release from prison Clyde found out what McNabb had said about him and whilst McNabb was on a 60 day furlough he was found dead with his face down somewhere between Texas and Louisiana. Apparently he looked like he had been kneeling down like he was saying a prayer before being hit in the back of the head and a gun being emptied into his head. Read a newspaper article about it here.
Joseph Conger Palmer (Usually just referred to as Joe Palmer) was the one to actually kill McNabb.
Palmer was executed by Electric Chair alongside Raymond Hamilton on May 10th 1934 for the murder of Prison Guard Major Joe Crowson. Crowson was shot 11 times on January 16th 1934 with a rifle and machine gun, he survived for 11 days after before dying due to his wounds.
My point is, maybe donât make jokes about literal SA. If it isnât meant to be harmful, still just donât say it. SA is still a very real issue that happens daily and can be incredibly traumatic. Whether youâre joking about a criminal or not. just donât. <3
You want questions about Dysis and Enver? Okay bet. Who are Dysis and Enver? What is your favorite piece of lore about them?
!!! A WRITING ASK!! I LOVE GETTING THESE!!
Warning: this is long
One of my favorite things to think about is who Dysis was before Enver and who Enver was after Dysis.
(Basically I'm gonna info dump)
Dysis was the third child in a family that needed three heirs. One to inherit the Stemma Throne (or father's title), another to inherit her father's title (or her mother's), and one that could inherit her mother's or non at all.
Both Melody and Adan (her parents) wanted at least two boys, three if they were lucky, so they could fill the titles. So their daughters would be safe, free to do as they pleased with their lives.
Their first child came. And it was a boy: Caellum.
Their second child followed 11 months after. It was a girl: Elora. They were both overjoyed, but nervousness crept in. It didn't matter, they told themselves, as long as they had one more boy. Then they could have a enough girls to fill the whole palace.
The third child: Dysis. Another girl, another wave of cheers and adoration. Delivered at sunset, the rays of light casting almost a halo around her head. Melody held her fragile body as the wave of complete and utter love filled her heart, the urge to protect her from the burden she could hardly bear at times only growing stronger.
The fourth child: Olan. A boy! There were two now! Should a suitable heir come from the King and Queen, there was hardly any danger!
The fifth: Aywin. The third boy!!! Melody cried when she saw seven year old Dysis holding her newest baby brother, the relief crushing her soul.
They were safe. Her daughters could be girls. Her daughters would be children.
The last child was Coral, another girl to bring utter delight with no trace of the previous fear. Adan had never noticed or remembered how he had held his breath after Elora and Dysis until he didn't feel it for Coral. It was perfect. Everything was falling into place.
So Dysis grew up surrounded by love and light. Surrounded by dancing and music. She'd proclaim that she wanted to be a singer, and Melody didn't have to worry about wether or not it was a real ambition she'd have to give up or just a childhood dream. She'd read romances, and her father never felt they were a waste of free time.
Although educated in politics and in everything a princess should, because of course there was the risk that she would marry into a noble family and become a Lady of her own accord, there wasn't too much pressure. She studied diplomacy and economics on one day, and then read and played the next. She learned how to throw daggers and parties, how to play strategy games as well as dolls and instruments.
And then her older sister disappeared, not coming back from her trip as she was supposed to.
Dysis was suddenly aware that Caellum needed her support, and she offered it. Although only twelve at the time, she started to learn that Caellum not only needed someone to support him behind the scenes, but also someone who could steal the spotlight when it became too much.
So she learned how to be charming, and oh how she succeeded.
She was waiting on her social debut. Everyone around her could tell it was be a successful oneâ after all, she was a Stemma princess. All the families would want that connection.
But before her debut could happen, there was a tragedy in the Kreat court. Her mother was called, the idea of a betrothal to help people's perception of the young king floating around. The prime candidate? None other than Dysis Crownstars.
Melody would barely hear of it at first, because this is what she had been trying to avoid! She hadn't wanted Dysis to inherit at 100 and something, much less be Queen at 16!!!
She had to ask first, though. She had to ask her daughter what she wanted to do. Because that had been the point: avoiding unchosen responsibility. This, however, could be chosen.
So she brought it up with Dysis, who saw no reason not to accept.
The betrothal lasted three months, as is customary. By then, Dysis had gotten to known Enver as a good, chatty boy who could easily become her best friend. And that was enough for her.
So they followed through with the marriage, and slowly, over the course of a year, both of them realized they had fallen in love with one another.
Two years after that, a beautiful baby girl was born. Dysis named her Elodie.
Unfortunately, Dysis never got to see her grow.
The funeral for Dysis Crownwood was called the most devastating affair of their age, with Adan being the one delivering the speech next to a broken Enver, holding a blissfully ignorant five month old.
And who was Enver after Dysis?
He was someone who had learned to love. To fully, truly love. Someone who worked through his grief for the sake of his people, who had to rule without the witty, charming Queen all of them adored. He was someone who dedicated himself to the education of his daughter, his only heir.
Enver is a wonderful lesson in perseverance. Although he would never be known as a cheerful king, entertaining the whole facet with parties and festivals, he was still known as just. As the King who remained a widower for the rest of his life, fully embracing his role as a father.
Enver was healed man. Though it seemed like an awful statement, it was generally said that Dysis's death had made him better. Had forced him to grow where his marriage didn't. Had given him a compassion for others that was only known by a man who knew grief.
Dysis had 16 years before him. Enver had 76 years after her.
So one solid piece of advice thrown around a lot is âdonât do info dumps,â but itâs not always easy to figure out how to do that. One part of the problem is that itâs a handy catchphrase, but you might not know what it means. So, to make it clear:
Q: What is an info dump?
A: Anytime you jam too much information on a page.
I know, this is unhelpful, but the truth is you could go on for pages with background information and have it still be interesting, or you could have an entire paragraph that derails the whole scene. This is hard! There is no one way to avoid info dumps, because always cutting scenes to the bare bones can cause more problems than they fix.
The Problem: Irrelevant information. You put a lot of work in your political structure, but it really has nothing to do with the story. This info never helps the characters, who pays taxes to who never comes up in the plot, and the whole thing slows down your opening characters.
The Solution: Start cutting. This is the most painful option, but this is where you start cutting. If it has nothing to do with the plot and no relevance to the characters, your readers will likely find it frustrating. Be sure to get feedback on this before you start cutting, though. Not everything has to be essential to the plot to create a good story, and if youâre struggling, itâs good to get an outside view.
The Problem: Relevant information, but given at the wrong time. This story about how Patricia accidentally stole thousands of dollars from the bank is great, but youâre telling it in Chapter 3 and it doesnât become important until Chapter 17, your readers will have completely forgotten about it.
The Solution: Leave those clues with foreshadowing and chunking. What happened in the past is essential for saving the future, but the main character canât realize that until latter in the book. Like a detective figuring out a mystery, scatter those clues throughout the book. Tim and Jason have a lifelong feud, but it takes Dick to Chapter 5 to notice that weird statue in the corner seems to move on its own, Chapter 10 to learn both are banned from the Smithsonian but not why, and Chapter 15 to pin the two down and finally learn why a drunken date has unleashed an ancient ghost in the attic. The answer to the plot/mystery has been there all along, but the journey is what makes it interesting.
The Problem: Too much description (that doesnât paint a picture). Many people see their stories as movies in their head, but theyâre not movies, theyâre books. You have a beautiful room to reference and you want your reader to see everything in it, but in the process, thereâs nothing to focus on. Weâve been told every detail, yet we still donât know where we are or why.
The Solution: Broad strokes (lets the readers fill the gaps). We need to know two things about your setting: why itâs relevant and how we should feel about it.The bedroom of the protagonistâs sister is covered in band posters, but the room is small and never gets enough sunlight, and always seems gloomy. The graveyard should have been creepy, but the grass is well-trimmed and the flowers are colorful and bright. Itâs hard to imagine grieving there. Now, this is also hard, and donât feel like you have to keep your description sparse, but focusing on what a place can tell us about the characters in it and how it sets the mood will help you a lot.
The Problem: Explaining what the characters already know. This one is a real challenge, because what the character knows is something the reader needs to know, but doing this in a dialogue (âAs you know, Charles, I lead the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants...â) or in huge chunks of your opening chapters can be derailing.
The Solution: This happened. How does your character feel about it? Dad lost his job two months ago. Mom said it would be fine, but then we had to sell the house. Then we moved to Maine. I hate this new apartment, and Iâm pretty sure it hates me... Your characters are going to be carrying the past with them throughout their story. Theyâre going to have internal conflicts about it. Theyâre going to make some wrong decisions or confess truths, either in action (Ever since mom died, I canât stand looking at the cup she gave me. Today, I finally smashed it) or dialogue (âMagnus, I just think the whole âevil mutantsâ thing sense a wrong message...â), focusing on the why of this information rather than just establishing it will help you a lot - and let you sneak backstory in more naturally.
There are more ways to info dump, but when you start figuring out how to avoid the major ones, youâll be able to avoid it in other forms without even realizing it. And do you have to worry about info dumps in the first draft? Hell no - thatâs what drafting is for. Youâll realize how to rephrase the information as you go.

Welcome to the English blog for ATCOE!
I decided to make a dedicated Tumblr blog because my main Twitter account isn't a good place to get info about the show from, probably. And I can't make an alt there because of sanctions.
Now, since this is Tumblr, I'll be able to make longer posts, and go into more detail about stuff. I may post not only updates here, but some interesting trivia too. Oh, and, you can also send me anonymous asks, and ask me stuff about the show :}
As for updates, nothing changed, still waiting for voice actors to do their jobs.
He wears a lot of browns/tans bc they help blend into the sand better
He has a shit load of pockets and pouches filled with various things
He always has face covering no matter the situation! (Goggles, mask)
The only thing of notable color is a dark green face mask he always carries on his person (it was a gift from Ollie)
Roy got the Outlaws lost during a sand storm on accident. He wasn't focused at the time. Long story short, they know to keep some sort of face covering on them. They didn't like having to learn it the hard way.
He learned a decent amount of his building skills from Oliver Queen during the time they lived in Arcton.
Roy doesn't like staying in a place longer than 2 solid years. He ended up meeting Jason a few months after moving to Norfolk. He's super friendly but hasn't gotten really close to anyone since living in Arcton. It really surprised him when he realized how close he was getting with the Outlaws, it scared him even more when they ended up having Tim around. (<- I'll talk more about relationships amongst them in a different post probably)
He knows damn well that Ollie is the reason they keep finding food rhat is still okay to eat. He chooses to ignore it.
