One of my heroes! Carl Rogers developed a kind of counseling called “Client-Centered Counseling, which is an approach that has been adopted by a variety of entities. For example; when I trained risk reduction counselors, they learn that the end point is to develop a plan to reduce or eliminate the risky behavior. This will have multiple steps and will be unique to each person because each person is unique. Some counselors have trouble with this type of counseling because they believe in absolutes whereas Client-Centered Counseling’s goal is to look at a variety of factors and create plan that the client agrees with and is motivated to reach. So some people may continue to engage in risky behavior but will reduce the frequency and/or degree of risk. That’s why it’s called risk reduction not risk elimination. #InfoGraphic #CarlRogers #Humanism #ClientCenteredCounseling #ClientCentered #InfluentialPsychologist
