the white house hadnāt seen leia so often than in the past few days, and she was sure they were all breathing sighs of relief that she hadnāt tried to wander off, or even ask to leave in general. she didnāt have it in her, not after her latest stunt. not after the fight with jacen. she would blame those injuries on the kidnapping. her staff didnāt need to know that her own son had tried to kill her. she knew how angry amy was, and she couldnāt blame her. even when she had gone off on her, leia knew she deserved it. she was reckless and sloppy. and now, leia almost wished that amy was still yelling, her head resting in her hands as she sat at her desk, looking down at all the work that had pilled up. she knew she had a job to do, but maker she wanted nothing other than to crawl back into bed. to stay there for at least another week. did she even have a reasoning behind it? she liked to think she did, that she had a plan for it all, but would amy understand it? did it even really matter what she thought she was doing that night?
āi know.ā she sighed, hands running over her face and through her hair before ultimately dropping back onto her desk, looking up at amy.Ā āi know you all pulled strings, and donāt think iām not appreciative of that.ā leia didnāt have it in her to be angry, to be upset, to even hide the exhaustion in her voice. it was all laid out in front of her, everything she had done wrong in the last few weeks, every mistake she made, or was going to make in jacenās case. and there was no use denying she had royally kriffed up.Ā ādoes it really matter why? i mean, does me saying i needed to clear my head make any of this any better? it was a reckless move, i know. it was stupid, and idiotic. i could have just as easily called you to tell you. but i just--ā she shook her head, a hand going to the bruise on her neck as she moved too quickly, the tenderness still there, a pain forever ingrained in her mind, seared into her memories next to the fire in that manās hands.Ā āi needed a break. i needed to be alone, and really alone. youāve missed a lot amy, and i just needed time." her hands fell again, a shaky breath coming to calm her nerves as best she could.Ā āit wonāt happen again. iām here until iām told to go somewhere else. it makes everyoneās lives easier that way.ā
