Hey bodegacowboy, given the stuff over the last, something struck me as odd, that kishi had been writing this movie over the past 2 years, yet he still also did what he did in the manga, and well, from a writers prospective, something seems, very off just from this like, again, even before RtN came out, we first got stuff like Kushinas find a girl like me and well, what came in the manga still came, I mean like the stuff NS did get and what NH never got. What is your take on this?
I don’t watch much of the anime so I don’t know what to say about the marketing argument. People are saying they are intentionally pandering to Hinata fans and this may or may not be true IDK. I suppose there is something to be said that Kishi may have consulted with the story but has no control over advertising.
The thing about this movie for me is this I see it from two perspectives based on the little information we have. Also I am going to assume Kishi doesn’t tease pairings just to keep making profit.
1) From a Hinata perspective:
DrangballZ had an entire TV movie based on Future Trunks a side character who was a major character in one major arc of the manga. So a movie where Hinata is heavily featured doesn’t shake me to my core cuz yes there are more stories to be told with Hinata (obviously she lost her status as heir and Neji died so she may have to become a strong leader for clan)
Now the reason why people are freaking out is the impression that this will be the last Naruto movie with canon ties. If this is the first in a series of canon-like movies than it kinda makes sense that Hinata gets a big role. If this is the last movie than I can get why people are worrisome (narusaku fans) or befuddled (everyone not Hinata fans) about why Hinata is so heavily featured
.2) The manga perspective. You are correct in that there is something odd about the idea of Kishi having both projects in mind and not writing one without the other in mind.Obviously one should reflect the other if Kishi is heavily involved in either.
Now the tricky part is if you are one who thinks the romance subplot in the manga stopped for Naruto when Hinata went to sleep and starts again when she awakens then you might have no problem with the gaps in time and the inconsistencies involved.
For others it will seem strange that while dreaming up a big grand movie all about NH, Kishimoto would not make it more grand in the manga.
In fact he sidelines Hinata dozens of chapters before he sidelines Sakura briefly during the NaruSauce fight.
Yes you would imagine Kishimoto instead of putting Hinata to sleep, well she would make Naruto’s father be reminded of his wife (and thereby refuting officially a major NaruSaku argument), you would think Kishi would not have Naruto joke about another girl being his girl, would not have another girl grab his heart and give him CPR, would not have another girl be dismayed when she thinks Naruto believes she is as useless as Sasuke does/did,
There is something strange about skipping from A —-> Z
Another girl is involved with all these little or big moments in Naruto’s life in the climax of the story but THE girl is put to sleep because hey the manga doesn’t matter they’re going to get a whole movie of development.
The only way this makes sense is if we say that Kishi thinks to himself it doesn’t matter that Hinata is not involved in these moments with Naruto, she’ll get more in the movie.
Now that’s the process of a writer who doesn’t care, in which case everything makes perfect sense. If you don’t care about quality you can write any old shit and it doesn’t matter whether stuff is in a movie or in the manga.
TBH if I were kishi and I wanted NH end I would have had Hinata meet Naruto’s dad. I would have had Mianto ask if she was his GF, I would have had Hinata save his life and Sakura save Sasuke’s….Hell I would have had Hinata and Naruto suffer together over Sasuke,
