The age different isn't significant though. It's only 3 years. As far as what emotions a 15 year old is ready for that's not something the law gets involved with. Sex with a minor on the other hand is illegal so I understand why some prefer a queerplatonic interpretation.
Three years is a huge difference between teenagers. Listen, friend, just because something’s legal doesn’t mean it’s not creepy. Street harassment? Legal. Also creepy.Â
It’s like... the difference between being in high school at 18 years old and being in college at 18 years old. That’s an uncomfortable maturity difference. 18 is when people start to become adults, have more responsibilities, individualize themselves because they’ve developed passed the volatile emotional stages of  the early teenage years.
 Yuri is still very much in the process of maturing as the show has blatantly stated multiple times. Not just physically, but emotionally. Otabek is very much beyond that stage of his life. That maturity difference creates a power inbalance that would make any current relationship unhealthy. Romantic, sexual, or queerplatonic.Â
