It's super awesome of alexontv to start this follow party and it's fantastic. I love it. 

I am a graduate of USC's school of cinematic arts with my Master's degree in screenwriting, where I did my thesis (loosely) in science fiction television.  I say loosely cause it's technically just in television, but I wrote a science fiction script and one of my thesis committee was the science fiction expert of USC and holy hell did he make me read all of the books for my thesis prep.  All the books. 

I am currently living the ultra glamorous life of a hollywood assistant in talent management. It's not glamorous, really it's not.  There's long long days and weeks full of internet paperwork and then the surprise glamorous showing with clients.  The vast majority of my job is clicking buttons to submit actors for jobs, editing reels, and filing paperwork so my boss can find it again. And filing O-1 visas for clients. And picking out headshots. And whatever other miscellaneous duties I need to do, which is so varying it would take all night to figure out how to write down.

Right now it's pilot season so I'm not really on here too much, but I have a queue going that should last through it.  I'm trying to answer questions as they come, as I love getting questions, but pilot season is eating my brain, that's for sure. 

On here I like to post misc writing tips, writing thoughts, re-blogging other writing stuff, and occasionally ranting about stuff in the film industry.  I have lots of rants about the film industry, both small stuff that happens at work or work related events, or just stuff in general. 

I'm currently working on developing an hour long pilot about a serial killer, as well as totally revising my script about a demon and actually trying to write a novel for the first time since high school.  The novel was actually a script I wrote about a year ago first, so I'm using that as an outline. 

How?

Do you have to keep writing? Is someone waiting for it?

Yep!

It's the one I drunk pitched at a party and people are expecting. 

If nothing happens that impacts the plot or the characters, you can make use of summary, which is one tool I think many people forget about. A summary can be a paragraph, a sentence, or a conversation to show that time passed in the story, but nothing relevant to the plot or the characters really happened. If something does happen during that time that effects the characters emotionally, lay it out, but if not, summarize and move on.

Example 1:

The flight to Atlanta was long and tiring. By the time Johnson phoned him, he was rubbing the red of out of eyes and sipping his third coffee.

Example 2:

I didn't hear from him for another three weeks. Normal life crept back in during that time - work, bills, my weekly lunches with Jenny. I didn't forget about the murder, but it became less real to me, like something from a movie.

I…haven’t heard anything about this.

I’ve heard of other studios buying out options from studios that need the money and/or are going out of business, but entire script libraries?  Nope.

I would be nervous too, but I have a feeling it's going to be a grand adventure.
