So back in December I made this (who is a different version of this) which I wasn't really satisfied with. However, the concept of (bio)mecha still stayed on my mind. Thanks @seadragonroyalty and @dieselpoweredwyven for fueling my interests! And special thanks to my best friend Frionivalis from Discord for helping out with several parts of the design and lore!
The CyberX Borealis Rexa and the ancient one with snowflake-shaped crown are not the same dragon, but they might be related in some way. They're both biological monsters altered by magic, piloted by humans, and fight against other monsters. The CyberX had more extreme modifications done to him and many mechanical-magitech elements implanted. However, like his namesake, the CyberX version is able to use Aether energy to form magical ice and cast spells in similar manner.
Some lore dump below! I'll add him to Artfight (last minute addition lol) and eventually Toyhouse with more complete details.
When CyberX Borealis Rexa was discovered, he came with sealed jaw plate and highly violent disposition. After successfully capturing him, a cockpit and several inhibitors were installed. His consciousness was fully suppressed, but he would return when the inhibitor takes damage. The difficulty in handling him caused the original researchers to considering termination, but SDS intervened and acquired him. Here, CyberX Borealis Rexa met his pilot he eventually trusts.
However, SDS did not disable all of the inhibitors placed upon him. Even in limited state, Borealis Rexa is still a powerful war machine. SDS tasks him to fight against the wild monsters appearing from CyberDream-a mysterious area created by overlapping physical world and cyberspace together. Only in dire situations would the pilot be advised to turn off some inhibitors. SDS theorized that if the final inhibitor is switched off, Borealis Rexa will be able to create a vast frozen landscape, just like the ancient dragon who once tried to destroy the world by freezing it all.
About the design, the tubes were suggested by Frionivalis as a replacement for the mane. Their function is to help optimize Aether energy flow so Borealis Rexa can use energy weapons and cast spells easier. The original creator and researchers prioritized functionality and kept adding more until they become somewhat messy. Borealis Rexa occasionally tear them off, causing frequent changes in arrangement. He also didn't feel like he really need them because he can use magic just fine without. Over time, he tolerates them more because the optimization does help him able to fight longer or use stronger attacks.
Oh also, he can switch between bipedal and quadrupedal anytime with his internal hip and leg bone modifications. Unlike the ancient Borealis Rexa, he doesn't need to use magical transformation to switch between the two stances. As result of that, he doesn't have Scythewing form, but he can replicate it with energy nodes on his wings.

Tbh I never thought the Starkle Slimes would even get attention lol. When I started making them, they were just funny little blobs for gags. I had plans for Slime Conan AU for like... 3 chapters or something and that's it lmao
The slime species existed long before that though! I did some worldbuilding for their silly little world but somehow never the Starkle Slime themselves???
Here's a really old picture from 2016 featuring Stiria the snowball slime. Character by Frionivalis on Discord

Art Fight piece for @seadragonroyalty (Mako_hime on Artfight) featuring Ash and Mordred... and my Borealis Rexa and his partner Frion Wintarf (designed by Frionivalis on Discord). This piece took about 15 hours across 3 days. wow.
I LOVE biomechs and monsters. A while ago Frionivalis and I made a story about humans binding their souls with monster souls and then conjuring their body to pilot. (kinda like Attack on Titan style but more magical). Then I had a dream a few nights later and made CyberX version where they're more mecha but still biological underneath the mecha armor.
When I found out about Mordred, I've been following because I feel the similarity in the concept and the aesthetics is just AWESOME. The pilot astral projects into the beast? That's super cool??? I love it when there's elements of magic and arcane fantasy stuff. I'd love to see more of this. Also Ash's is just fun! Love him being not-so-normal but also like, he just reads books and stuff too so that's kinda normal.
So anyway that brought us to this piece. Fantasy pilots of monsters who are prone to going berserk just chill together. They're just eating noodles but their beasts are also with them... also wanting noodles. This is probably all a dream skjfalskd it's so silly.
I originally was going to use the CyberX Borealis Rexa but I realized Wintarf didn't have that version of pilot suit designed yet.... and I kinda feel the original dragon have closer vibes in terms of concept and settings since CyberX is like... more advanced and magitech modern day. (The noodle lore is from CyberX version though lol)
My first ever attack for Artfight and it's for @xmooncanary !!! I'm pretty proud of this piece with the pose and my "I have no idea" attempt at clothes folds lol.
Doing the background made me crave oranges. It's been a while since I last have one. I really miss seedless oranges. I couldn't stop eating them the last time I had a bowl of it (it was 1 kg I think???)
I love crossovers both official and fanmade, especially if they are proper story episodes or fanfics
problem is my favorite stuff are typically on completely different genre and settings
imagine a crime detective who's shrunk into a child because of a poison meeting a courageous elf swordsman with legendary sword and shield while they stay at a ranch in a region that raise monsters for battles as a sport and inside the barn there's a humongous biomechanical mecha that's actually someone's mom but it's eligible to join tournaments anyway oh also a murder happens randomly every few days oh and there's probably a thief wanting to steal the elf's shiny rocks while the said elf is ready to unleash entire arsenal of medieval and magical weaponry on the thief
