Part of me feels like we're turning into this alternative version of who Syd Barrett would have become if the LSD hadn't done quite what it did in reality but rather it caused him to get back these memories of some horrific trauma from his past that didn't stop him from doing music or performing but that did make him a lot more withdrawn and difficult to be friends with.

While this is far from the most unique trait they both share, both Manson and Page were extremely popular during the peak of their career, but in the current day, they are often denounced as abusers and are considered untouchable to many parts of the music world and music fandoms online.

To get into the more specific details, though, I see both Manson and Page as people who made a career out of having a very dark and extreme persona, especially with regards to sex and drugs. Manson leans a little more on violence for his image than Page does, but they both make use of the occult for their image, especially in a way that furthers the popular perception of rock music as demonic.

Manson is a LaVeyan Satanist and Page was interested in the works of Aleister Crowley. They both seem to genuinely hold these beliefs, but they also make occult imagery a part of their persona as a musician. I can't think of many other musicians who genuinely hold beliefs like that.

They also both strike me as people who, when given the opportunity to influence people around them (especially ones younger than themself), they take that opportunity to build a cult of personality about themselves and their image. They both seem controlling of the people around them, but not in the way that someone who INSISTS on having control is controlling; rather, they use their charisma to get people to GIVE them control.

I told them they were an asshole and that it was absurd of them to think I lie about doing weed, because if I lied about doing drugs, i would make blinkies about cocaine and heroin, not the softball drugs I actually do.

I think, after recovering from top surgery and being able to resume maximum drug use, we're going to switch from smoking weed all the time to having one or two edible gummies throughout the day to maintain our anxiety and using kratom to manage our pain.
