Hi everyone! I’m a non-Indigenous writer working on an alternate-universe speculative fiction project. The core premise of my world is a modern, thriving, socialist federation of sovereign Indigenous states where colonization never overrode the continent. Because I am using real geographic endonyms (like Šaawanwaatoweewe and Saukiog), I want to make sure I am treating these names and open regional histories with absolute care and respect. I’m hoping to connect with folks who can help me ensure the background lore feels authentic and respectful.

I will never support white people calling for a matriarchy, when they themselves destroyed matriarchal societies. you participated in the destruction of matriarchal indigenous societies and enforced your eurocentric concepts, ideas, and systems. now you’re calling for a matriarchy? colonial mindset, literally just a bunch of colonizers doing what they do best, just colonize indigenous systems and try so hard to defend their viewpoint(s), and concepts they’re stealing from.

white people who are NOT indigenous need to stfu and stop speaking about our culture, our politics, and our identities alongside our history as indigenous people. it’s so odd when SETTLERS, COLONIZERS mind you try to speak on our history and our cultures, you don’t know shit sit tf down

white presenting natives still have racial privilege, and it’s time we talk about it. yes white presenting natives are oppressed for being native people, but they are not as oppressed as those who actually present the racial expectations of indigenous people(s) alongside Afro-natives (afro-indigenous) people, we can acknowledge that white presenting natives are both oppressed but also not, and are extremely privileged over the other.
